As Martha got herself set up for the day, she couldn't help but think about her last shift. She wasn't about to make sex with potential patients a habit, but she was perfectly content to share the blame for the indiscretion with Tony, and with the island. It helped that it had been awfully fun to let go for once.

When Martha had gotten the message from Ino that she wouldn't be around for her shift today, Martha hadn't minded at all, because it meant she could rearrange the desk without throwing anyone else off. The main desk now had three baskets of condoms for the taking (ribbed for her pleasure, glow in the dark, and fruit flavored), as well as safe sex pamphlets, and some informational pamphlets on safely trying new positions which Martha chose not to look at for too long since they only brought on dirty thoughts about certain lanky time travelers.

She was sitting behind the desk in case anyone needed help, not because she wanted to see who took things. Honestly.

Martha had the door to the clinic open today, since it was such a lovely day. The clinic's files were up to date as far as she could tell, and all the items in the clinic's inventory were present and accounted for, so she was relaxing for once, searching for something worth watching on the television.

Martha didn't mind when things were quiet at the clinic, because it meant she had plenty of time to do all the things that ensured the clinic would be ready the next time something bad did happen. It also meant she had time to come up with her own list of what could be the next thing to invade. Sure, it was likely she'd be wrong, but that didn't mean she couldn't guess.

[OCD freeeee!]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha had quite the day ahead of her as she tried to figure out what to put in this month's report to UNIT. While she felt compelled to mention the zombies, she wasn't sure if bringing up the gremlins as well would be such a wonderful idea overall. The less they knew about...alternate methods of dealing with a problem, the better.

Martha was having a pretty quiet day in the clinic, minus the pair of squirrels that came in with a third, injured squirrel. Right around the time she managed to get out of them that the squirrel had been watching something particularly entertaining, and had fallen and was looking for medical care, Martha knew that even on the quietest days, this place couldn't be completely normal.

Martha was at the main desk of the clinic, trying to look like she was engrossed in something really serious, when really she was reading a magazine and listening to the nurses gossip. Sometimes, a little mindless entertainment was the best medicine.

With all of the patients gone from the clinic, Martha was a lot more relaxed, which meant the nurses got to relax too. Martha was working on finishing up everyone's files and making a list of what supplies needed to be replaced, and the nurses got to gossip about who in town they hoped would get bitten by a gremlin and turned into a nudist.

[OCD-free today!]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
With the zombies gone, Martha hoped that there wouldn't be any new patients in the clinic today. She was perfectly content to finish taking care of the ones who were already there.

[OCD is up!]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha had been very grateful for the quiet of the clinic yesterday. They hadn't had many zombies come to try to get in - the nurses had been quite fierce, and Martha could only imagine that word had spread - and the lack of patients had made Martha start to wonder if they'd get through this whole thing with everyone being all right. It was amazing that she still had some optimism left in her, but there it was.

[OCD is up!]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
For once, Martha was perfectly happy that Ino wasn't around for her shift. Being out of town meant she was away from all the zombies, and hopefully safe wherever she was. Martha was also pleased to not find any patients waiting for her when she arrived at the clinic, and she could only hope that the day would pass without anyone getting hurt.

Once she'd made sure that the exam rooms were clean and the inventory was still as stocked as it should have been, Martha let herself get settled in behind the desk, and started flipping through the news stations, trying to find one that she could stand to watch for more than a few minutes at a time.

[The clinic is a zombie-free zone, so you're safe in here! Mind the OCD, por favor.]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was expecting a quiet day in the clinic, which meant she was taking her time with the inventory check and all the other regular maintenance she'd planned on doing. If someone needed actual help, well, that would just make things interesting, and she wouldn't mind that at all.

[Open and ocd-free.]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha had imagined that it would be a quiet day, unless the people who'd gotten drunk the night before were still green, but the nurses were still talking about the weetiny kids who'd been in the clinic over the weekend, and they wanted to tell Martha all about it. Honestly, she didn't mind that much at all.

[Open and OCD free!]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was definitely not happy about having to dart around scary-looking excrement-flinging bird creatures to get to the clinic. As tempted as she was to find a weapon and try to get rid of them, she had little doubt that there were others already working on that, and odds were, they'd need medical attention later. She was keeping an eye out for anyone coming towards the clinic, in case they needed help getting inside.

After catching up on the inventory and making sure the nurses were behaving themselves, Martha found herself with plenty of time to sit at the main desk and enjoy a good book.

Okay, it was a trashy romance novel. But it was good trash!

[OCD-free and open!]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was all over the place in the clinic today, doing inventory checks and reorganizing the file cabinets, all in the name of keeping herself distracted. If she was eying certain supplements in the drug catalog a little more than usual, well, it couldn't be helped.

[OCD-free as usual!]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
For all that Martha considered herself to be a sensible person, there were times when she let her emotions take over. This would be why she was sitting at the main desk of the clinic cutting out paper hearts and taping them up throughout the waiting room. A little Valentine's Day decorating wouldn't kill anyone - at least, she hoped.

[OCD-free! She's here all day and night.]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
From the sound of the radio broadcast, Martha had done well to keep to herself yesterday. Today, she was at the main desk looking over Savannah's file. It didn't sound like she'd have to come back in, but Martha wanted to be prepared, just in case.

[OCD-free because we are patientless now!

...I did not type that as pantless first, really.]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
With no patients coming in, Martha was taking the time to do some extremely important work - namely, sending out e-mails to everyone in her family to check up on them and see how they were doing.

What? It was very important to her.

[OCD-free because it's a lazy snow day.]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
The clinic had a generator to run all the necessary machines, but there wasn't enough power to keep the lights on fully, so Martha had a handful of candles set out along the desk to keep that area as bright as usual. People had a way of getting the most injured when it was the most inconvenient to help them, so she was keeping herself on alert throughout the day, just in case.

[OCD-free, la la la.]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was at the main desk of the clinic, flipping through a magazine while waiting for those who needed to come by today. She was debating whether she wanted to get some new things for her apartment, or if that would mean she was getting too settled here.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was alone in the clinic for most of the day while the nurses took a shift off, but she didn't mind that at all. It gave her plenty of time to check the inventory and the exam rooms in peace.

[Eh, let's go OCD free today. :)]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was a little sad to be back in Fandom after spending the last week with her family, but she supposed she couldn't complain too much. She'd gotten to see everyone for Christmas, and for the first time in years, it had been a nice, peaceful day. She couldn't help but hope that that meant the Doctor had gotten a day off as well.

[Eh, it's a holiday, let's go OCD-free today. :)]
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was already well into the holiday spirit, but that didn't stop her from getting even more amused by the egg nog coming out of the faucets in the clinic. She was being careful to not enjoy too much of it in one sitting, and hoping that they wouldn't need a lot of water for anything before the faucets were fixed.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
It was nice and quiet in the clinic, but Martha didn't mind that at all. It gave her the time to do some housekeeping, and work on her lists of potential Christmas presents to give to her family. The idea of not going home hadn't even crossed her mind, and she couldn't help but get ridiculously excited every time she thought about home.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was already in a generally festive holiday mood to begin with, but when she got to the clinic and saw that the decorations she'd ordered had arrived, her good mood skyrocketed. She spent the better part of the day getting the clinic into Christmas mode, complete with a tree, garland, and lights around the desk, and in the evening, she sat and admired her handiwork.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
One nice thing about having to pay attention to things like Thanksgiving for once was that after this week, Martha could get into the Christmas spirit without being on the receiving end of strange looks. The idea that with fewer people in town things might stay quiet was a nice bonus.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Perusing catalogs for supplies for the clinic was so much more interesting with the nurses around, Martha realized. She wouldn't have known about half of the naughty ways certain things could be used if it wasn't for their comments.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Things had been quiet enough recently that Martha felt comfortable doing some pleasure reading at the clinic today, instead of dealing with paperwork. She was, of course, hoping that this wasn't the calm before another storm.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Instead of her usual filing and paperwork, Martha was watching the news in the clinic today. She wasn't sure if the election would have any impact on things at home, but watching leaders get elected always caught a special bit of her attention these days.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was in the clinic again today since there's no unexpected going out like yesterday, and was taking the time to look through the inventory, trying to figure out if there was anything she could get cheaper somewhere else, or if there was anything on which she should be spending more of the clinic's budget instead.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was at the desk as usual, but instead of her typical business, she was looking through catalogs of furniture and decorations, trying to pick things for her new apartment. She wasn't sure exactly what she'd pick, but she knew it wouldn't be anything the nurses were pointing at as they looked over her shoulder.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
After hearing that there were going to be far more people in town this weekend than usual, Martha was ordering some last-minute supplies, to make sure there would be enough to cover everyone, if necessary.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha knew that she should write up a report to UNIT about the past weekend. Random comas? People coming back from the dead? Vampyres wyth badde maykeup? It was all exactly the sort of thing they'd want to know about - except it meant that Martha would have to explain what happened to her as well, and there was no way she was doing that anywhere in a file that either Jack or the Doctor could potentially someday get their hands on. This past weekend would have to be one event that never got recorded.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha was sad to see so many sick and dying patients at the clinic, but not as sad as she was knowing that her true love was out there searching for his true love, and it wasn't her. Stupid Rose, keeping the Doctor away from her. If only she had the chance to show him what a real woman could be like, she knew she could change his mind. She just had to find the way to do it, and it was all she could think about as she checked on the clinic's patients.

The nurses were all gathered around the front desk, gossiping while Martha finished going through the files from the weekend with the enemy island. It was a little strange to have someone around who actually wanted to work and help people, but they wouldn't have expected much else from someone like Martha.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha didn't have much to send back to UNIT this week, with things being so quiet, so she actually had the news on today while she did her inventory check and made sure everything in the exam rooms was where it needed to be.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
With Igor gone, Martha made sure to stop by the clinic in the morning, in case anyone needed anything. Someone had to make sure the nurses were actually working, after all.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Martha still felt like she didn't have a full handle on the clinic's inventory, but she was starting to understand it a lot more, especially since the nurses weren't being nearly as distracting as usual.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Things seemed to have gotten quieter as the week went on, and Martha certainly wasn't going to complain. In fact, she wasn't going to say anything at all, fearing that the whole place would go crazy again and it would be all her fault.

Instead, she was checking on the clinic's last remaining patient, and trying to figure out how she was going to explain the island moving again to UNIT. Random enemies from another universe. That was going to go over so well.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Yes, Martha was still in the clinic, nursing a cup of coffee and keeping an eye on those who had spent the night. She didn't want to hope that no one else would be hurt today, afraid that she would jinx the whole island into harm's way. She did, however, hope that the supplies held out. Now she understood why her predecessors had kept the place overstocked with bandages.

Ino was pretty sure that this was going to be a bad day if radio had been anything to go by about how many people had been in and out of the clinic last night.

As such, she didn’t even take out her study materials, but rather busied herself with making sure everything was stocked up and keeping a watchful eye on the door. Ready to help if it was needed.

...she really hoped it wouldn't be needed. Better wasted effort than a lot of patients.

Ronan was, mostly, only peripherally aware of the things happening on the island. He'd missed the town hall meeting the day before, and wasn't one to listen to radio. Still, it was hard to miss that they'd moved -- again -- and things in the back of his head had him more than a little on edge.

So he was there for his shift bright and early Friday morning, making sure things were in order in case the 'being on edge' thing was heralding an influx of patients.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
Satisfied with the clinic's supplies for now, Martha was at the main desk working on her first report back to UNIT. So far, she didn't have much to say, but she was trying to fill the space anyway. She wasn't even considering mentioning the Doctor though - there was no reason to report absolutely everything, especially if it might make people's heads explode from trying to figure out how it all worked.
[identity profile] usedtotravel.livejournal.com
In a few weeks, Martha might be content to leave the supposedly slow Sunday shifts to the nurses, but for now, she wanted to take the chance to acclimate herself to the clinic and to what they had on hand. The inventory was nothing like she'd expected, and while she supposed the supplies were meant to fit the needs of the school and the town, she didn't know how, and that meant she had virtually no place to start to decide what might be right and what might be wrong.

The Doctor had called this place a gigantic headache, and she was starting to see why. She had to admit though, it was well worth the headache to be where he was.
