Martha had quite the day ahead of her as she tried to figure out what to put in this month's report to UNIT. While she felt compelled to mention the zombies, she wasn't sure if bringing up the gremlins as well would be such a wonderful idea overall. The less they knew about...alternate methods of dealing with a problem, the better.

A werewolf walked into the clinic.

Well, a werewolf did walk into the clinic, but this wasn't the opening line of a bad joke. It was just Samuel.

Martha glanced up from what she was writing when she realized she wasn't alone anymore and smiled at the hot newcomer. "Hi there. Can I help you?"

Samuel smiled back at her winningly and said, "I certainly hope so. I'm new in town. I'm Samuel Cornick, Dr. Samuel Cornick, actually, and I was wondering if you could use an extra pair of hands around this place. I brought a copy of my resume."

"A doctor? We can always use more of those," she said, standing up and going over to him. "I'm Martha Jones," she said, offering her hand in a more proper introduction. "It's very nice to meet you."

Samuel took her hand and said, "It's very nice to meet you as well, Martha Jones. But then, it's always nice to meet a lovely lady."

Martha had a weakness for flattery that made her smile almost shyly at the compliment. "So, what's brought you to Fandom?" she asked. "We don't get a lot of new people who aren't here for the school."

"I just wanted a change," Samuel said with a shrug. "Something completely unfamiliar. And I heard this place was passing strange, so...here I am. What about you? You're not from this side of the pond, unless I miss my guess."

"Yeah, I'm a bit far from home," Martha said with a laugh. "Believe it or not, I was actually looking to be some place more stable. But strange is definitely a good word for this place."

"I've had too much of stability," Samuel said. "It all gets the same after a while."

"I think you'll find things change often enough around here to keep things interesting," Martha said. "So, where have you worked before?"

"Up 'til a few weeks ago, I worked the ER in the Tri-Cities in Washington. State, not district. Before that I was in Montana, small town clinic." He grinned. "Pretty weird town itself. Before that I was in Texas at med school."

"Oh, so you have clinic experience? That's very good," Martha said. "I won't lie, this is a small town full of very healthy people, so there are times when heavy-duty care just isn't an issue."

"Yes, and if someone gets hit by a rickshaw or something, God forbid, I'm your man."

Martha laughed. "That's very good to know. How long do you think it will take you to get settled?"

"It shouldn't take too long," Samuel said. "I travel light."
