The Clinic - The Morning After

Wilson and House had been up the whole night, between hourly checks on Rory, Marty and Logan they had -laughably- tried to relieve each other for a few hours of sleep but each had been too keyed up to take advantage and after the first try had given up.

The oncologist had quietly worked on paperwork in between rounds, while House had played with his gameboy. For the moment, neither had brought up the subject of what had just happened with the other, it was just all too confusing and in the end, not important to delivering medical attention. In some ways, it was better that they didn't have the details, that would just confuse the focus.

As morning dawned, Wilson had taken advantage of a quick break to grab a shower and clean the blood off his skin and out of his hair. He'd come back and tagged House out, firmly suggesting that the older doctor needed to put some intense heat therapy on that bad leg of his...and also demanding -in a loving manner- that House make coffee.

When House headed off towards the little apartment, Wilson began to run rounds once more.

Sometime around four in the afternoon, Rory wakes up.

She pulls herself into a sitting position as best she can, and glances around the clinic.

After about five minutes, she's very bored, and very in need of entertainment.

Cally enters, arm-in-arm with Anders. She's smiling happily, but does look quite concerned, as well.

"Hey Rory... how ya doing?"

"Hi Cally, hey Anders," Rory says with a weak smile. "I'm...well, I've been better, generally. An improvement over last night, anyway. How are you two?"

Anders's usual cheerful expression fades a little bit when he takes in Rory's condition. "Pretty good," he replies, "and for once in my life I kind of feel bad about saying so. Really, really glad you're okay, though."

"Me too," Rory says, laughing a little. "But I guess that goes without saying." She clears her throat slightly, and tilts her head. "Anything interesting happen since last night? Anything...not morbid and scary?"

"Well, we kinda stayed in all night, so... I dunno, really." She pokes Anders in the arm. "You're the one who heard the radio. You hear about anything nice?"

"Not so much, sadly," he replies. "Except something about Zero being a cat, which could possibly be nice. Or maybe inconvenient. Other than that, though, as far as I can tell last night was just insanity."

Unconsciously, he edges a little closer to Cally as he asks, "Rory, do you know how well any of the others came through?"

Lorelai comes back (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandom_clinic/46904.html?thread=2105912#t2105912) and hopes Rory is awake this time. She heads directly for her daughter's room.

"Hey, kid, how're you feeling?" she asks softly.

"Hi Mom," Rory smiles. "I'm okay. Sad though. I don't get to have coffee."

"No coffee?" Lorelai asks, the tone of her voice suggesting this might be a worse statement than a vampire bit me.

"Why? For how long?"

'It's a stimulant?" Rory guesses. "Something like that. And it slows the healing process. Probably only until I'm mobile again, I think." She punctuates this by squinting in concentration and wriggling a foot under the covers. "Yup. Any day now."

"Want me to have Luke make you some decaf?" She spits out the last word like it actually causes her physical pain to say it. "By the way, Luke said to tell you hello and he loves you but he had to do some stuff at the diner tonight."

Rory wrinkles her nose. "Decaf? I would rather have no coffee than the evil that is decaf. And hi back to Luke, and I love him too." She glances down at her hands, and looks back up at her mother. "Do they know where he is? Angelus, I mean?"

Marty knocks on the door. "You taking visitors, Gilmore?"

"Marty!" Rory squeals as enthusiastically as she can. "You're okay! You're moving! They didn't tell me what happened to you - and I'm...I'm really sorry for...for...y'know."

"It's okay Rory, I'm just sorry you got hurt. You are okay right? That's what everyone's been telling me."

Marty slowly sits down into a chair across from Rory.

Rory nods. "I'm okay. Just...got a little bitten." She sighs. "I wish I'd listened to you guys." She gives Marty a once-over. "What happened to you?"

Marty gives her a small grin. "Don't worry Rory. You and half the campus thought that Angelus was a good guy. It's not your fault."

"As for what happened? I'm sure they've given you a run down of what happened last night at Phale's. As for me? Well turns out our Abnormal Psycho professor is also a vampire."

Marty gives Rory a quick highlight (http://www.livejournal.com/users/oatmanspatient/18198.html) of what happened to him last night.

"....So the next thing I know I wake up here and Janet was poking me in the ribs."

Callisto knocks on the door. "Hey, Rory, I, uh, heard about what happened from Parker, and I just wanted to see how you were doing."

"Callisto!" Rory smiles. "Hey, come in. And I'm...well, not my best. But I'll live."

Rory eyes the object in Callisto's hand, and sighs, her smile fading. "Do you think I'll need it? I mean...they haven't found him yet, have they?"

"I hope not, but better to have a weapon when you don't need it, then not to when you do." Callisto sits and rubs her forehead with her free hand. "As for Angelus... I'm not sure. There was something on the radio last night, but no details. In any case, it's not like he's the only vampire in Fandom."

Sam poked her head into the room once things had calmed down. "Hey, Rory. How are you feeling? Can I get you anything?"
