FTEC – Saturday [December 13]

Ino had a million and one things she could be working on while at the clinic. She was, for the most part though, just staring at the entrance with deliberate thoughtfulness. And trying not to sigh. She didn’t need loads more things to have to consider and fret about right now.

If anyone asked, she was practicing her mental walls.

He leaned forward and reached up to tap his finger against her temple. "Where's your brain?"

"You mean you had one?" he teased, pulling her hair lightly.

He grinned. "Learn something new every day," he teased her.

Ichigo shrugged. "Not particularly. Why?"

"Huh."

He stared at her for a moment, remembering all the times people had told him to stop frowning. It wasn't that he was in a terribly good mood, but he wasn't in a bad one either since there wasn't anyone bugging him.

He pulled away, grabbing his box with pancakes. "Why?"

Of course she had to ask that question when he'd just taken a bite, which resulted in Ichigo coughing and trying not to choke on his pancake.

"What?" he asked, his face brightly red from the coughing.

Well, his good mood was quickly evaporating into... He wasn't sure what.

"I don't know," he said dumbly, staring at her. "What do you think we are?" He didn't know if he wanted to stick a word on it, as if that somehow would make it more complicated.

He raised an eyebrow. "But you think it's too slow."

He wasn't very great at normal either and he poked at his pancake. "We're... us."

His eyebrows knitted together and he was trying to understand what was going on, why she suddenly wanted to talk about it. "What exactly do you want me to say?"

"Is something wrong," he asked, because it felt like there had to be.

"What is it then?" he asked, wondering if she was mad cause he hadn't visited last week.

"Cal?" he repeated, the name was familiar and he thought he remembered talking to him once. "Why? What's he got to do with it?"
