FTEC – Saturday [December 13]

Ino had a million and one things she could be working on while at the clinic. She was, for the most part though, just staring at the entrance with deliberate thoughtfulness. And trying not to sigh. She didn’t need loads more things to have to consider and fret about right now.

If anyone asked, she was practicing her mental walls.

"We were talking and he said that it's not very cool to be practically a thing and not name it," Ino mumbled.

"And you agree?" he asked, staring at the pancake which was probably cold by now.

"I don't know!" Ino hated everything right now. "I just couldn't stop thinking 'bout it."

Which was as much of an answer, really. "Would it make you happier if it was named?"

"I was fine before," she nearly wailed. "I don't know why it matters now!"

He was going to take that as a yes. "Maybe it's like a zanpakutou."

She blinked at him. "What?"

"It's a shinigami's blade," he explained and now he wished he hadn't said it because it felt lame saying it out loud. "To release its true form, you have to know his name."

"No, I don't know," he shrugged. "Forget it. I just didn't think it mattered.'

"It didn't before," she muttered. "And now I don't know why, but it does."

He still didn't get it, but he hated the part where she seemed to think he was apparently leading this. "So what do you want to name it?"

He had the strangest feeling he was getting another headache. "If it matters to you, then there must be something you'd like."

That just got unintelligible muttering.

He eyed her. "You'll have to repeat that cause I didn't get a word of what you were saying."

She glowered, pulling her knees up to her chest defensively. And more muttering. Only this time, it was slightly louder. Slightly. A good bit of it was still rather unintelligible.

"--practically dating anyway--but you're not--calling it a thing--nearly your girlfriend already, geez--I don't know--"

He eyed her, torn between wanting to freak out or just laugh. "Fine then. We're dating."

--and the mumbling cut off rather abruptly.

She blinked at him.

"No, no!" Ino managed to get out. "That's fine!"

He let out a breath in relief. "So... we're dating."

He was not going to freak out. There was no reason to freak out.

She grinned a bit over her knees at him. "Just don't tell your dad. I think he'd flip out."

Oh sure, there was the freaking out. "He's not ever setting foot in this island again."

"I don't think you could stop him," she said, leaning over to tug at his hair. "He's rather forceful."
