Ino had a million and one things she could be working on while at the clinic. She was, for the most part though, just staring at the entrance with deliberate thoughtfulness. And trying not to sigh. She didn’t need loads more things to have to consider and fret about right now.

If anyone asked, she was practicing her mental walls.

Ichigo was bundled up enough to face a blizzard when he made it into the clinic and he was still cold. The boxes he was carrying might help with that as he found pancakes this time.

"It's cold!"

"It's not in here," she said, glancing up and smiling slightly. "Well. At least with the door shut. Did you need a hand with all of that?"

"Nah, I'm good," he stepped further into the clinic, letting the doors fall shut behind him. "I'm so ready for the holidays."

"Yeah?" Ino asked. "You going home, or something?"

"No," he shrugged and placed the boxes on the table. "It's not like we celebrate Christmas. Just feels like the last week has been dragging along." Which might just have been that whole being sick thing.

"I'm okay," he said instantly. "No fussing."

"I wasn't going to," she denied quickly.

Ino was a liar.

"But it's good that you're feeling better, at least."

"I kind of think so too," he agreed, pushing the box towards her. "So does this mean I get to kiss you again?"

She considered that, and devoted herself to opening the box before answering.

"Maybe." Because that was useful. "...where did you get pancakes from?"

"Luke's," he said, grabbing a seat. "You like pancakes, right?"

"They're fine," she said, smiling. "I just wondered. Should've guessed, don't know where my brain is today."

He leaned forward and reached up to tap his finger against her temple. "Where's your brain?"

"You mean you had one?" he teased, pulling her hair lightly.

"Yes," she said, frowning at him. "Of course I've one."

He grinned. "Learn something new every day," he teased her.

Ichigo shrugged. "Not particularly. Why?"

"I don't know," she said, poking at her pancakes. "I think I'd have rathered you in a bad mood today."

"Huh."

He stared at her for a moment, remembering all the times people had told him to stop frowning. It wasn't that he was in a terribly good mood, but he wasn't in a bad one either since there wasn't anyone bugging him.

He pulled away, grabbing his box with pancakes. "Why?"
