FTEC, Wednesday day shift

Tommy was up.

Well, 'up' was a very broad definition involving a great deal of coffee, J,GOB donuts, and Tommy being even grumpier than usual, but he was awake and that's what counted.

Tommy was at his desk. No paper today and still no TV. He had to resort to - [shudder] - doing paperwork.

Janet stuck a poster on the outside of the clinic as she came in. She poured herself a very large cup of black coffee and rummaged around in her backpack until she found some fruit and a granola bar.

She yawned as she sat down in an unoccupied chair.

"Yo," Tommy said, not really looking up from his paperwork.

"I'm taking over one of the exam rooms today to run a blood drive," said Janet. "I hope this won't inconvenience you too much."

"Only inconvienence is if somebody's losing a lung or a foot and needs the room," Tommy pointed out. He didn't really sound upset about this possibility. "So... yeah. Go nuts."

"I'm sure that if we told them to be patient, they'd wait," said Janet. She rolled her eyes. "Just cross your fingers, okay?"

After leaving a sleeping Angel, Veronica stopped by the desk and left word with the doctor to make sure he got something to eat when he woke up.

Angel was still dozing whenever someone wasn't there to see him. Anyone who looked at him would notice he was paler than yesterday. Also that, while he slept, he twitched in physical pain.

Callisto was asleep in her chair. "Get off the ceiling Miss Hopeless-Savage-Parker," she mumbled under her breath.

Angel twitched some more. Now he looked like he was having a nightmare. Finally he jerked, waking himself up.

He saw a blurry shape nearby.

"Connor?"

At the sound of Angel's voice, Callisto blinked awake. "Who's Connor?"

Hearing Callisto brought a little more clarity.

"Hum?"

Not much. Just a little.

So being at death's door didn't change the not-a-morning-vampire part. Rubbing her eyes, Callisto leant in closer. "I said, who's Connor?"

Lana stopped by again to see Angel after her shift at the bookstore. He might not now she was there, but she felt better seeing him and kind of thought that a part of him might somehow know he was not alone.

Angel made a soft sound. He might be waking up. Hard to say.

Lana shifted so she could see his face. He looked as if he was waking up. "Angel?" she said quietly.

CJ comes in, just to check up on him (and Callisto too) and brings in a bouquet of Moon Flowers and Jasmine...yes, she asked what blooms at night.

Angel was a little muzzy, but awake. "Mrs. Cregg."

"Angel. You're awake." She laid her hand lightly on his and gave him a soft smile.

Angel woke up as she came in. As soon as he saw who it was he tried to push all the pain behind a stoic mask. "Hey, Veronica."

Veronica noticed that Angel didn't seem to be doing as well as he had been the day before.

"Hey," she said with a small smile. "Feeling okay?"
