FTEC, Thursday (8/4)

Scully had awoken cranky, but determined. Time to get to the bottom of her transformation!

She stomped off into town, and shot at two teal deer who tried to stop her from going inside the clinic. She took a sample of their blood as they limped away. (And drank some of it, but not from the sample. You had to keep your materials separate to avoid contamination.)

The nurses were staying waaaay on the other side of the Clinic from her, as she worked on her tests.

"Thith ith ridiculuth," she muttered through her just-starting-to-emerge fangs, as she broke yet another beaker. Really, those things didn't grow on trees!

Then she was absorbed in Science again.

Scully made a leap for her, silent and fast, although awkward with her newly hardening joints, and a tiny snarl escaping her.

Sookie's emotions went faster than she did -- a bolt of violet energy shot from her hand as she stumbled back, trying to get to the door.

She didn't want to hurt Scully, even when she was like....this. Hopefully the zap from her hand would just distract her, or stun her, or...something.

How about all of the above? The purple was shiny, and Scully stopped to look at it as it hit her- then twitched and slammed into a desk, panting for breath, more sanity in her voice as she asked, "What the... what was that?"

The bolt, or the urge to attack (SpreadthecontagiongrowfeedmoveMOAR), either would be better with an explanation.

"Defense mechanism," Sookie said, for lack of a better explanation. "I'll explain it all when you're feeling better. Are you here, now?"

Even with her special sense shielded, it wasn't hard to notice the shift in Scully's tone.

"Yes. Yes I am," Scully said, holding her head. Dear God, it hurt. Her breath was coming in short pants. "I am so sorry. I can't even explain why I did that. Feeding. Or something. But... I'm not hungry?" Her hands were shaking as she pulled them away from her face. "I don't think you should get too close," she said, her voice distant.

"Don't you worry about that," Sookie assured her, softening a little. "I promise not to zap you unless I have to. Are you...you're not a vampire, are you?" She reached out with her mind, and what she picked up was animalistic, buzzing, but still sounded like Dana usually did. "You don't sound like one."

"No, no. I was out in the sunlight just fine. And the teeth are new, as of this morning," Scully said, trying to remember what else would make her not-a-vampire. Oh! "I'm still wearing my cross." She pointed at throat, where it lay. "So. Something. Not a vampire. Something new, like the rock we were looking at. My cells bear visual similarities to it."
