FTEC, Tuesday, December 4 - Day Shift

Christian checked on the patient and reviewed the notes from Dr. Howser, the nurses, and Katara. The blood work results didn't seem like the plague, but then again, they hadn't been terribly alarmed when the first patient showed up with that illness. There didn't seem to be any apparent physical cause for Zuko's fever, so what was wrong with the kid?

Whatever seemed to have been wrong, it must have decided to stop because when Zuko opened his eyes that morning his fever seemed to have wore off and he could think straight again.

He blinked at her and shook his head, frowning a little. "You've been here."

Mel tried to shrug it off though the look of concern didn't disappear. "I didn't have anything better to do," she replied. "So sticking around here seemed like a good idea."

He watched her for a moment and the nodded slowly. "Thank you," he said gently.

She groaned slightly as she pulled herself out of the chair and went to the side of Zuko's bed. "Um. You're welcome," Mel said feeling a little awkward. "Feeling better?"

A hockey slash should take place on the ice, not in the locker room, and even then, it's still a low blow.

He laughed. "Pie is nice. I think I'm more a cookie fan myself though. And actually yeah, we've arranged way in advance for me to spend Christmas with my Mom and her new family."

"Well mostly my mom was just glad I was alive. She already knew, and had told my step dad and half sister about Fandom's quirkyness, so when I explained the time difference, they were a little confused, but they accepted it well enough."
