It was a rather happy Ronan who made his way into the clinic on Wednesday evening, setting his backpack behind the desk. He frowned to see that they still had Adah in as a patient, making sure to check on her and see how she was doing.

But other than that? Definitely a happy Ronan.

"I have a date!"

... It probably said something that these were the first words out of his mouth this evening, though they were swiftly followed by, "And, uh, hi."

"And a good evening to you to as well. It's nice to see you to," Isabel teased. "My day's been pretty nice. Thank you for asking."

She set the drinks on the counter then pulled over a chair and made herself comfortable. "A date? With who? Anyone special?"

Grabbing his drink, Ronan popped off the lid and liberally sprinkled it with cayenne. "Peter Petrelli," he said. "We met up at the Perk earlier today, and... yeah. I'm cooking dinner next Tuesday, we're eating in my room. Nice, small, intimate. Great way to get to know each other better." He paused. "And show off my cooking."

Isabel fixed her own drink with a generous splash of Tabasco and lifted it in a toast. "Congratulations. I'm both impressed and incredibly happy for you. And should you need a sous chef to assist with the cooking, you know I'm there for you."

Ronan raised his drink in response. "Thank you! Why impressed? And I appreciate the offer, but I think I'll handle this one on my own."

"Because you work both quickly and apparently smoothly?" she answered, taking a sip of hot chocolate. "And I mean that in the very best of ways. Of course now I'm a bit disappointed I can try to play matchmaker any more then I have."

"Well, I don't know how smooth," Ronan replied, blushing a little. "I, ah, rambled. A lot. While I was sick, I mean. I kinda... told him several times that he was really cute." His grin returned. "So, today, I just made sure to tell him that while I was only rambling because I was sick, what I was saying was definitely true."

Isabel couldn't help laughing. "I'm not going to disagree with you. At all. He's very cute. He's also a very nice guy. Just like you. Which is what I told him class on Monday."

"You did?" Ronan blinked. "You... you really were matchmaking? Seriously?"

"Very, very mildly," she grinned, amused by Ronan's reaction. "Why wouldn't I? He's a friend. You're a friend. You're both single?"

Ronan blushed. "Oh, uh, thanks." Funny, he could ask Peter out easily enough, but find out that someone else thought he was good enough for Peter?

The blushing was too adorable and one more reason why Isabel thought they'd be good for one another. "Not a problem. At all. I hope it works out. I'd like to see you both happy."

Ronan grinned. "Speaking of happy, how are things between you and Wyatt?"

"Good," she said, as that sappy smile made yet another appearance. "Very good even. I'm going with him out to his family's for the holiday. It'll be fun."

"Oh?" Ronan considered that for a moment. "Good," he said. "Things are definitely going well if you're meeting the family."

It's one of those weird Fandom things. Wyatt and Chris's mom is an alternate version of a student that graduated here last May," Isabel explained. "So I already know her. And the other folks that'll be there are other graduates and friends. So no, it's not the same as if he were to bring me home to meet his grandfather or something."

"Oh, okay," Ronan replied. "... Fandom is really, really weird."

"You're only just figuring this out?" she snickered.

"Well, no," Ronan said, laughing in return, "but every now and then I feel it worth reiterating."

"That's true. Sometimes we get too used to the weirdness," Isabel admitted. "Then something happens to remind you that yes, this place is bizarre."

"Like spending a couple of days twenty years older," Ronan said, smiling softly. "I slept with Johnny again. I don't quite count it, it's while we were older, and... it was different. If anything, the memory of it now tells me that I'm not interested in him anymore. Attracted, sure, but... not in the same way I used to be."

A moment after saying it, he realises that he's not sure if she knew about that, but then another moment passes and he realises that he doesn't care -- it's Isabel, after all.

"I'd heard radio. Can I just say I'm so glad I missed that particular bout of weirdness?" she replied, sipping her drink. "That's good isn't it? That it's over? I mean I get attracted. Hell, I'm attracted. I think that's only natural."

"We're neither of us dead, after all," Ronan agreed. "And yeah, it's good. He has Savannah, and... I don't think he'd ever have been able to be with me. Not the way I'd have truly wanted. Sex, sure, maybe even some dates, but..." He shrugged. "I guess a year's separation will do that. Help you get over someone, I mean."

And finding someone who actually seemed to be seriously interested helped.

"No. We're not." And if that was a little heartfelt, Isabel was still processing the events of the week before. "You're right though, I don't think he could. It's his loss."

Ronan shrugged, smiling a little -- with a touch of sadness as he thought of the previous week, but he was already healing. "His loss, indeed." He grinned. "So, what do you know about Peter's taste in food?"
