FTEC - Saturday Evening [12/2]

After a close call on his way from the apartment down to the clinic, Wilson came dashing into the clinic sans his usual latte.

Somehow stopping at the Perk seemed like an unwise idea.

Moving quickly through the door, Wilson tossed his satchal behind the desk and moved swiftly through the back halls of the clinic to see if anyone had been dropped off already and baring that, if they were stocked up.

"Large, mean beings...I almost would have rather had the zombies, at least they moved slowly." He muttered.

Z gave Bridge an 'I'm totally fine' grin. See? No need to worry about her. Really. "Oh, don't worry about me. You can fix him, right?" she asked Dr. Wilson.

"Most likely." Wilson said with a gentle smile to them both before addressing Z once more. "I can also at least help you be a bit more comfortable also...if you just tell me where the ouch is?"

"There's no ouch," Z insisted. She and doctors didn't really get along that well. Part of it was the 'hey, her bloodwork's kind of funky,' thing, and part of it was the 'total lack of insurance' thing.

Bridge gives Z a 'bitch, please' look and moves to take off a glove.

Wilson gave her his best 'I'm really helpful if you'll let me be' expression as he gently worked Bridge's boot off the injured ankle.

Z refused to look guilty as she looked steadily at Bridge.

Bridge scowls at Z as he does a quick scan. "You," he says accusingly, "are hurting like hell."

"All those bumps add up. I'll be fine," Z insisted. "Really."

"Psychic." Bridge points to himself. "It's pretty hard to lie to me. Well, I mean, you *can*, but the odds of me believing it are kind of low."

"I'll be fine, I promise," Z repeated. "Don't worry about me."

"You're my teammate and not only that, one of my best friends," Bridge points out. "It's pretty much my *job* to worry about you."

Z was not exactly familiar with this concept. Not that Jack wasn't a great friend, just a little...self-centered. Well, no, that wasn't fair. He wanted to help other people. He just assumed Z could handle herself. "That's...sweet?"

Letting the two young people talk for the time being, Wilson carefully probed Bridge's ankle. He didn't feel any immediate broken bits but brought the x-ray machine around, just so he could take a picture and be certain.

"I'm pretty sure it's not broken," Bridge offers helpfully. Because he has the medical training to make such judgements, except not. "It'd be all... black, if it were."

"I'm making a collect...humor me." Wilson responded with a small smile and he continued about his business, taking the x-ray then continuing with his exam of some of Bridge's other bumps and cuts while he waited for it to develope.

"Besides, you know what they say about wrenched ankles. It would hurt less if it was broken."

"They do?" Bridge frowns. "Somehow, that doesn't seem fair," he says, slightly petulant.

"A break usually get immobalized in a cast. Soft tissue injury gets a wrapping and ligaments, tendons and muscles are vindictive."

Straightening, Wilson picked up the film and gave it a quick once over.

"Annndd...nothing is broken, so you were right."

Giving Bridge a smile, Wilson moved to a cabinet and got out the supplies he needed to wrap up the ankle and also treat Bridge's cuts.

"Ohh," Bridge nods in understanding and files that information away. "That makes sense, I guess."

Setting a soft splint around the ankle, Wilson bandaged it with that annoying level of firmness that only medical professionals seemed capable of managing.

"You'll need to keep it elevated as much as possible. Ice packs will work best to reduce the swelling. I'm going to sign you out a pair of crutches, please make good use of them. The more you stay off it, the faster it will heal."

And if Wilson made one last worried glance towards Z well...he wasn't going to force medical attention on her but that didn't stop him from being concerned.

"Just my nature to be a worry wort. Comes with my cute little doctor pin."

"I'm fine, really. Um. Do you have any Tylenol or whatever?"

Wilson nodded.

"MmmHmmm. I'll get you some to take along with what I give to Bridge."

Giving both young people a quick smile, Wilson stood up and went to get the medication, crutches and some ice packs for Bridge to take home with him.

He returned with everything except the crutches in a bag to be carried.

"All right then, any questions?"

"No, I don't think so. Thank you, sir," Z said. Then she and Bridge headed back to the school, Z keeping a wary eye out for trolls along the way.
