FTEC - Saturday Evening [12/2]

After a close call on his way from the apartment down to the clinic, Wilson came dashing into the clinic sans his usual latte.

Somehow stopping at the Perk seemed like an unwise idea.

Moving quickly through the door, Wilson tossed his satchal behind the desk and moved swiftly through the back halls of the clinic to see if anyone had been dropped off already and baring that, if they were stocked up.

"Large, mean beings...I almost would have rather had the zombies, at least they moved slowly." He muttered.

"Sweet. I can add it to my collection," Jude winced. "More crutches?"

Jude nodded, privately thinking that elbow crutches went faster. But what he was thinking about was that Chad was the one who had punched out a troll and Jude was the one who had been running away, yet he was the one in the paper gown and wet plaster.

Real great impression, bro. Hi, I'm Jude, I'm a total wuss.

"Thanks," Jude replied. He had been saying 'thanks' every time someone did anything for him, being a polite Canadian boy as he was. He looked over at Chad, wondering why the giant Mexican was still hanging around.

"You don't have to stay," he said dully, not quite meeting his eyes.

"Ugh?" Chad gave a questioning grunt as he turned toward Jude. In truth, he'd kind of forgotten he was there, spacing out a bit. He was all too used to the whole just being in the background and not doing anything while important stuff happened with other people thing. Really. He blinked a bit back into reality. His jaw felt a little...off. He place his hands, one regular, one still encased in armour, on each side of his square jaw and gave it a quick little jack back into place. Better. Probably not a good thing to do in front of a doctor, but it was better now.

"Uhh, I don't mind. Ya want me to stay? For company?"

Jude looked up at him quickly and then immediately back down, picking at the thin sheets. "Um, if you want to . . . don't want to bother you or anything."

In other words: yes, please.

"S'not a bother," Chad shrugged. "So long as it's okay with you, Doc."

"I'm sorry I'm such a wuss," Jude blurted when Wilson had gone. "You really don't have to stay . . ."

Making himself comfortable meant releasing the spiritual energy that made his armour, it disappearing in a little puff, and making his way over to the sink to clean up a little better because, yeah, those little moist towellettes did nothin'.

"You're not a wuss," Chad said as he washed up. "You took that fracture like a champ. An' I can go, if you want me, too," he added, thinking maybe he'd misjudged Jude's earlier answer.

Jude watched the armour go poof with slightly wide eyes, continuing to watch him clean up. "Yeah, but you like totally punched out a troll and all I was doing was running away." He looked down, blushing slightly. "It'd be really sweet if you stayed."

"Then I stay," Chad said, flicking a bit of water off his hands into the sink before reaching for a paper towel to dry them off. He glanced over his shoulder at Jude; he may have noticed a little bit of a grin.

"An', well, I hate to shock ya, Jude, but, well, I'm just a tad bit bigger than you. If you were just a bit taller, ya coulda taken him, no problemo."

Jude caught the grin and smiled back. "Yeah, I, uh, kinda noticed the bigger-than-me thing last night." He blushed, adding belatedly, "Not that way."

Chad was very comforted in the fact that he wasn't the only one who thought that. "Just a bit," he said.

Maintaining his subtle grin, he dropped into a chair with an exaggeratedly exhausted groan, although he was feeling pretty sore. His face felt a little puffy from all the punches he'd taken. "Maaaan, that was loco."

"Yeah," Jude chuckled lightly, starting to feel a little loopy from all the painkillers. He shifted so he was a bit more comfortable and could see Chad better. "It wasn't all bad, though . . ."

"Better than a bar fight," Chad said by way of agreement, leaning forward a little with his elbows on his knees, hands drooping between them.

"Yeah." Jude wilted and looked away. Maybe he was wrong and Chad just had been really, really drunk.

Chad definately recognized wilting when he saw it. "Something wrong?" he asked, with a bit of a frown. "I mean, aside from the whole leg having been bent in unnatural positions thing."

Re: Exam Room 5

"N-nothing," Jude stammered. "Forget it."

Re: Exam Room 5

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
Chad gave Jude a look that told him very succinctly that he was not going to forget it, but he also said "Okay," to show him that he wasn't going to push, either. "Sorry."

Eeep. There went the guilt.

Jude was quiet for another moment. Then the soothing effect of the drugs compelled him to speak, a low mutter. "Did you just kiss me 'cause you were drunk?"

Re: Exam Room 5

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
The tacked on apology always worked. Chad had renewed his confidence in being one hell'uva practicer of the no-pressure pressure trick.

Of course, now he was being prepared to soon be asked to leave as he admitted with a slight shake of his head, "Nope."

Re: Exam Room 5

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh." Jude didn't know if this made things more or less confusing. You kiss one guy, get hit on by one swan, and next thing you know . . . "Okay."
