Trevor never liked coming into the clinic to find injured students already there. He carefully checked on each of them before taking up his usual spot behind the front desk.

"You're welcome," she said with a smile. Gwynn wouldn't have taken it as a dismissal even if she thought it was -- which she didn't. "Is there anything you need?"

Gwynn smiled. "I can ask but they may not let you out if they think you need more care."

To be honest, Zuko wasn't sure he had much strength to get up anyway. "They seem to be thinking something like that," he sighed.

Gwynn looked sympathetic. "I do not like being in the infirmary, either. I can only imagine how you must feel."

"Maybe if I threaten to set it on fire," he tried.

Gwynn grinned at him. "Want assistance with that?"

Zuko created a small flame in the palm of his hand. "I think I have it covered."

"Zuko, how do you do that? That is really impressive." She wasn't abouit to ask him if he was a demon again. Mostly because she was happy to distract him from whatever pain he might be in. Making him angry probably wouldn't help with that.

"Breath," he replied. "It turns to energy inside the body and into fire when you push it out again."

"Can you teach that or are you born with that skill?"

"You have to be born with it," he replied.

Gwynn nodded. "That probably makes sense. So, have you always known you could do that?"

Zuko frowned, but it wasn't a weird question as he understood that Marie hadn't realised she had powers either. "Yes, almost everyone around me could firebend."

Gwynn thought about that for a moment, wondering if she had any special powers since it seemed that everyone around her did have. "Does it hurt?"

"Firebending?" Zuko asked, clearly finding it an odd question. "No."

"Creating fire," he explained. "It's how we call it."

"Oh," Gwynn nodded. "Okay, I was a little confused on that. Thank you for explaining."

Zuko nodded and tugged lightly at his hospital gown. Then seemed to remember something. "Could you do one thing for me?" he asked.

"Can you tell Miss Gilmore..." He faltered, realising that he'd left school. Oops. "It doesn't matter."

"Of course it matters," Gwynn said with a nod. "I'll use the telephone thing and let Ms. Lorelai know that something has come up and you will not be in class tomorrow."
