Trevor never liked coming into the clinic to find injured students already there. He carefully checked on each of them before taking up his usual spot behind the front desk.

"Of course it matters," Gwynn said with a nod. "I'll use the telephone thing and let Ms. Lorelai know that something has come up and you will not be in class tomorrow."

"No, it doesn't. I left school, she's probably not expecting me," Zuko said.

"You didn't leave. You're in the clinic. She'll worry."

He frowned. "I'm still no longer her student."

Gwynn frowned. "Because you got hurt? Ms. Lorellai won't kick yu out of class because of that."

She wondered if he had hit his head.

"No, I told the principal that I didn't want to be a student anymore," he explained, not adding the part where he quit because Zoe had told him he couldn't kill someone.

Gwynn cocked her head. "That doesn't usually work. Maybe yoou should talk to Principal Washburn and make sure you know for sure what your status is. Or I can."

Yes, self-appointed friend was taking it upon herself to make sure Zuko was still allowed to be at school.

"I didn't give her much choice," Zuko said with a frown, this whole people helping thing was still new to him. "It is my responsibility."

"Zuko, talk to her? I'm asking you and not demanding. I would hate to see you leave when you didn't have to."

Maybe she'd call Principal Washburn...

"I need to go home anyway," Zuko said stubbornly. "I need to make sure my uncle is alright."

"Can you write him? And why would he not be okay? And that wouldn't mean you have to stay away."

Gwynn was also stubborn.

"I don't know where he is right now and I don't have a messenger hawk," Zuko said.

"Messenger hawks are common where I'm from, too." She looked at him. "So if you don't know eher he is, how would you find him?"

"I know where he's heading," Zuko replied, wondering if his uncle had made it to Ba Sing Se at all or if his sister found him before he could reach the city.

"Zuko... may I ask a personal question?"

She really did look concerned.

The concerned look wasn't so much helping with him being in favour of personal questions. "It depends what it is."

"Something has happened to make you worried?" She asked slowly.

Zuko sighed. "My uncle is the only one who knows that I'm here. If the person who attacked me found me, she might have found him too."

Gwynn nodded. "Would she hurt him, too?"

"She already tried to kill him once," he scowled at the sheets.

"Do you have help to find him?"

"It will be easier on my own," Zuko said, already sensing what was coming.

"I want to help. It is what friends do."

Yes, and looked where helping got Marie and Bel. "It will be safer if I travel on my own."

"If not as a friend, then let me help as a warrior. I can not turn my breath to fire, but I am a good warrior. Just, please consider it if you have to go."
