One of the nurses comes out. "You're Lana, right? Kiki's sleeping now, but when I told her you were here, she insisted I let you know she's doing a little better. It was good you got her here when you did; her fever was very high, and she says to tell you thank you very much for staying with her all night. She also," the nurse adds with a small smile, "recommends that you get some sleep and that you take better care of yourself than she did of herself."

"Thanks," Lana said. "I really appreciate you coming out to talk to me. I've been really worried about her."

She managed a half-smile for the nurse and left the clinic quietly.
