"Yay for painkillers," Rory replied with a trace of a smile. "Boo for broken hands."

She narrowed her gaze a tiny bit, and said, "You should feel like an idiot. I don't like being fought over. I dislike getting scared and worried because you were a moron and got yourself concussed even more."

Anakin blushed. "Sorry," he murmured.

He paused. "And you don't have to get scared or worried for me any more," he said, turning to look at her.

Rory looked at him.

She slowly unfolded herself from the chair and wordlessly laid down on the bed beside him, reaching for his good hand.

"I miss you."

"I miss you, too," Anakin said, his voice tight.

"And I want you to know that I'm absolutely furious with you over this," she continued quietly, tracing her thumb gently over his knuckles. "You and Angel both. I can't remember the last time I was so mad."

Anakin swallowed hard. "I understand."

"But having said that," and it was Rory's turn to swallow hard, because she was rapidly losing her nerve, "I didn't stop loving you just because we broke up. And I didn't mean what I said on Tuesday, or last night. And this whole not being together thing? Really, really, really hurts. And I don't want to do it anymore."

Anakin looked into her eyes. "Really?" he asked softly, gently squeezing her fingers.

"Really. But...that's where I am," Rory whispered a little hoarsely. "And I understand if you don't feel the same way."

Anakin moved his hand to intertwine their fingers. "I love you," he said quietly. "It's one thing I know for sure." He scooted a little closer. "And knowing I hurt you has been killing me. Forgive me?"

Rory nodded, moving a little closer. "And I'm so, so sorry for being so hurtful," she said, leaning her forehead against his. "Forgive me?"

"For anything," Anakin whispered, bumping his nose against hers.

Rory smiled. "I missed you," she said again. "And you know how I said before that I never want to fight again? I really, really mean it this time."

"I absolutely agree," Anakin said, moving closer.

He paused. "If I kissed you right now, you wouldn't punch me in my other eye or anything, right?"

Rory actually laughed for the first time in days.

"No, I wouldn't," she said softly.

Of couse, that would be when the wee tiny bunny that had been clinging to her side since fourth period would choose to hop up from her waist to her shoulder and hug her ear.

Anakin blinked.

Then rubbed his eyes and blinked again.

"Um. I think I'm seeing a tiny bunny on your ear," he said finally. "But it could be the drugs."

Rory reached up and pulled the bunny from her ear, smiling as it wrapped around her finger.

"We have tiny, huggy bunnies on campus today," she said. "Didn't you hear the announcement?"

"I did," he said. "Wasn't sure if I was imagining this particular speciman."

He wrinkled his nose up at the bunny. "Who managed to ruin a perfectly decent moment, thanks so much, tiny little being."

Rory leaned over and kissed him as soon as the words were out of his mouth.

He had missed this. He threaded his good hand into her hair and concentrated on kissing her back, completely ignoring the weetiny bunny hanging from his braid.

Rory didn't ignore the adorable weetiny bunny, though, since her MO was to go for the braid.

She smiled against his mouth as she shifted her hand to the back of his neck instead.

He let out a soft hiss. "Sorry," he said, resting his head against her forehead. "Turns out my head's not quite as hard as Obi-Wan always said it was."

Rory moved her hand to his shoulder rather rapidly. "Sorry," she murmured. "Though, I have to say I have very little sympathy on this."

"I know," Anakin said, leaning in for another kiss. "And I won't do it again."

"Better not," Rory said softly. "Since I'm really, really mad."
