FTEC, Thursday Evening

The sheer number of people residing in the clinic when Trevor arrives corrects any notion that it might be quiet this evening. But, he thinks, at least he won't be bored.

"Love you too."

Rory moved a tiny bit closer. "Can I stay? Or am I going to be bad for you getting better?"

Please stay," Anakin said, moving his hand down to link with hers once more, then yawned again. "I feel better having you here," he murmured sleepily.

Rory stayed close. "I need to call Parker, then. Let her know I can't go this weekend," she said thoughtfully, voice quiet and soothing.

Anakin cracked an eye open. "Of course you're going. I'm still going to be spending the entire weekend meditating. Now it'll just be to mend a broken bone." He frowned. "Okay, more than one broken bone, but still. You're going."

"But...I don't want to leave if you're hurt," she pointed out.

Anakin opened both eyes and tried to look as unhurt as someone with a black eye and a cast possibly can.

"I'll be fine," he said. "Honestly. Parker'll need you."

"Okay," Rory said reluctantly. "I'm still going to ~~handwavily~~ call you to check over the weekend."

She sighed and squeezed his hand. "Did I miss anything exciting with you the past couple days?" She made a face. "I hate having to ask that."

"Well..." Anakin began, then gave her a wicked smile, "I got in a fight."

"No," Rory said, deadpan. "Really? Next you're going to tell me you reconciled with your secret girlfriend."

"Might've," Anakin said, biting his lip. "Other than that, my week was made up of brooding, whining and generally missing someone."

He paused. "And lemurs dancing in my room, but I think I'd prefer to forget about that."

"Lemurs dancing?" Rory asked with a raised brow. "Are you sure you weren't dreaming?"

"No," Anakin said, "they were dancing. And I hadn't been drinking or anything -" there might've been a slight blush when he said that, "- they were just there in the room, dancing to some weird song about Egyptians."

Rory grinned, and then suddenly sobered.

"Can I ask a kind of serious question?"

Anakin nodded, watching her face carefully.

"Would you take it back if you could? Everything that's happened since December, I mean," Rory asked quietly, not looking at him. "Because it kind of sounded like you wished you could, the other night."

Anakin tried to tip her chin up so that she'd meet his eyes. "Hey," he said quietly. "Look at me."

Rory did, reluctantly.

"I don't regret a second of it," he said firmly. "Not one. And if there are consequences for this, then there are consequences." He gave her a shy smile. "I'm the Chosen One, born to bring balance or whatever. I'll learn to balance this. Or cheat destiny."

He stroked a finger down her cheek. "Because I'm not giving you up again."

Rory melted like a popsicle in the middle of July.

"I just wanted to check," she murmured. "Someone got me thinking about it, and you know me. Bit insecure."

"I do know you," Anakin said, giving her a slow smile before closing his eyes again and dropping back to sleep.

Rory carefully slid off the bed and wandered out into the lobby (http://community.livejournal.com/fandom_clinic/106119.html?thread=4466823#t4466823) with the intention of possibly getting food (or, more likely, more coffee.)

She returned empty-handed a few minutes later, with a voice that sounded a bit too much like her own ringing out before she carefully shut the door with an eyeroll.

Anakin cracked an eye open. "I was hearing you in stereo," he commented groggily. "Is that the drugs?"

"It's Becky," she said apologetically, coming back over to the bed and sitting down. "Sorry. Didn't mean to wake you. I was just going to get something to eat since I haven't had more than ice cream and candy and coffee for a few days, and she was there, and I'm sorry."

Rory bit her lip to stop the flow of words.

"You haven't had more than ice cream and candy and coffee for a few days?" Anakin repeated.

He was quiet. "But I finished off a bottle of Corellian whiskey in one sitting and ended up in the clinic after fighting with a vampire, so I'm probably not one to talk, huh?"

"Um, more coffee than anything else, since there hasn't been a lot of sleep," Rory said quietly. "I don't eat or sleep well under stress. Sorry."

She reached for his hand again. "I assume you're getting in trouble for this somehow, right? Who broke up the fight?"
