Sunday Morning

He'd used his leg a an excuse to avoid leaving his apartment. It had nothing to do withthe mun being over threaded or on the phone off and on last night dealing with personal stuff. Mun appreciates everyone who tride to get House invovled and apologises for my RL limitations that prevented him jumping in. He had no intention of going to the gym because of the snow, but he would have helped in the clinic

Sitting at the desk in the clinic Sunday morning, he felt bad about that. Guilty, even. He could have asked Geoff to help him get to the gym, but the fact was he didn't want to. And, well, in his defense, he didn't know how bad it was going to get. He'd been quite content to spend the weekend snowed in with Geoff, talking and laughing and, well, other things that brought a smile to his face.

But in truth, he knew he had a back slide. He was trying not to use his leg as an excuse anymore, or at least not when it wasn't really a problem. Getting across campus to the gym would have been difficult, even with Geoff's help, because snow and cane do not mix well. That he could justify to a point. But when Pippi had come to him, through the clinic door, and he'd still refused to help? He couldn't really justify that. He was selfish and not for the first time, he sat alone and wondered what he was doing.

It wasn't that the clinic was too much responsibility for him, but he wasn't sure exactly what it was. He'd fallen back on his pattern of avoiding clinic as much as possible, putting in just enough hours to say he was managing it. And he was. Wilson still helped a great deal, which House appreciated that. But he wasn't happy. He hadn't been happy for a while. The non-human factor of most of the kids really bothered him because despite his best efforts he simply didn't know how to help them in most cases.

He sighed and sipped at his coffee and waited to see if anyone would come down to the clinic.

Doctor is in. He has coffee and Cash, both puppy and music. All is right with the world. His discontent is the start of his leaving Fandom arc, and he will eventually seek out the Principal to discuss things. But not yet. Bring your injured to him now, if you dare

[OOC: Mun is AFK for a bit

Han comes around in the clinic (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/573150.html?thread=27615454#t27615454), unsure where he is. He's groggy, his chest hurts and some very low voices are singing about "Desperados waiting for a train." Last thing he remembers was the pretty dark-haired lady jabbing him with a needle.

A groan seems like the most he can cope with at this point

Lana's sitting in a chair next to him, dozing.

She stirs when she hears him groan and gets up to go over and check on him, rubbing her face as she does so. "Han. Hey, the doctor says you're going to be okay." She brushes a stray lock of hair off his forehead and manages a smile for him.

[identity profile] 12parseckessel.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
He blinks at her. "Morning, doll." His mouth feels like sandstorm season blew through. He looks at the IV, the bandages and gives her a lopsided smile. "Too wicked to die young."

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"And a good thing too," she replied. "Not ready to lose you, yet. You must be thirsty. Let me sit you up a bit and get you some water."

[identity profile] 12parseckessel.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
He nods. "Feels like I ate my way through a shirt or something." He manages to scoot around to sit up. His head pounds and he sucks in his breath with a wince. "Tell me we got 'em."

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"You did," she says quietly and holds a cup with a straw up to him so he can sip from it. "Slowly," she warns him.

"And everybody made it through - some less successfully than others," she continued, raising her eyebrows at him. She looked like she'd been up all night.

[identity profile] 12parseckessel.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
He sips slowly, the water helping. "You okay? Shep make it?" He shuts his eyes a second. "How's Maia?"

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
She manages a wry grin. "If Shep didn't make it you think I'd be anywhere other than curled up in a fetal postion somewhere? He's okay - for Shep. Some frostbite on his hands, shark bite on his ankle. Maia..."

She sighed. "Maia's doing okay now, i think. I left her sleeping in her room, with a note telling her where I was, and came to check up on you. She was pretty shocky last night. I got her cleaned up and into bed and stayed with her while she fell asleep. She's blaming herself for your injuries - something about the water ballons freezing?"

"Anyway, I think she's better. And I discovered that I look silly as hell in your jacket." She makes a face at him.

[identity profile] 12parseckessel.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Send her to see me now that I'm gonna live. All my stupid fault. Forgot to keep my head down." He reaches over and touches her face. "Bet you looked adorable in it."

He thinks a second. "Lana, I need a favor. Can you get me paper and pen? I just know Beautiful listened to the radio and I know he's panicking if they said anything about me being injured. Need to drop him a note."

Pippi raps on the door softly, she has a bottle of something with her.

She nods to Lana, "Is he awake?" she whispers.

Lana smiles wearily at her. "Just about," she says. "How are you? Are you okay?"

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh yes... Got the wind knocked outta me... That was surprising. But other then that I'm fine. How are you doing?"

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Good. Tired. I wasn't involved in the fighting, so..." Lana sighed. "I just hid out in my room."

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Pippi smiled, "That sounds like an exellent plan. More of us should probably try it next time."

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, and then where would the school have been? Without you brave people out there fighting?" Lana looked a little sad.

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Pippi pulled up a chair, sat down to Lana, and put her arm around her shoulders.

"Lana, we all have our strenghts. So you're not a fighter? Big deal, we got people who can fight. And you're not a doctor, and that's okay. Making sure you were in a safe place certainly didn't endanger anybody. And you're here now. With your friend, making sure he's comfortable, and has what he needs and isn't alone... Like that isn't important?"

Walter wasn't particularly thrilled to be there, but his wrist hadn't stopped hurting overnight and he really couldn't afford to be cavalier about injuries to his wrists or hands.

He was there first thing in the morning to get it dealt with and get back to Victor before he woke again.

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Pippi nods to Walter as she enters the clinic.

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good morning," Walter sets aside the old magazine he'd been staring at without seeing. "How are you feeling today?"

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Pippi shrugged.

"I feel fine." she said, "I feel great in fact... But I feel like I shouldn't... I'm perfectly okay and I want to go out and make snow angels... But I also feel like I shouldn't. So I feel guilty for being okay and wanting to play in the snow that almost killed us all..."

"How are you?"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter blinked. Guilt was not a reaction he'd expect from Pippi, but she was human and had feelings, so he supposed he shouldn't be.

"Don't feel guilty. You earned playing in the snow if that's what you want to do."

Walter wanted to stay someplace warm for a while.

"I'm alright. Victor's sleeping, so I thought I'd come down and have Dr. House have a look at my wrist. It wasn't worth bothering the doctor for last night"

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nobody would want to play with me I'm sure." she flopped down in the chair next to him... "I should find the big metal lady and give her back her gun... At some point."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I would, but I left Victor sleeping and I don't want to leave him in his room while I go play."

He leaned toward her. "Are you okay?"

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I am. Perfectly... Except that I'm not, because I shouldn't be... I think?"

Ivanova woke up in the clinic, her head pounding but much clearer than it had been the night before. She lay there with her eyes closed for a long time without moving. Mainly because her limbs felt like they were made of lead. Lead made of pain. Lots of pain.
