The Clinic - The Morning After

Wilson and House had been up the whole night, between hourly checks on Rory, Marty and Logan they had -laughably- tried to relieve each other for a few hours of sleep but each had been too keyed up to take advantage and after the first try had given up.

The oncologist had quietly worked on paperwork in between rounds, while House had played with his gameboy. For the moment, neither had brought up the subject of what had just happened with the other, it was just all too confusing and in the end, not important to delivering medical attention. In some ways, it was better that they didn't have the details, that would just confuse the focus.

As morning dawned, Wilson had taken advantage of a quick break to grab a shower and clean the blood off his skin and out of his hair. He'd come back and tagged House out, firmly suggesting that the older doctor needed to put some intense heat therapy on that bad leg of his...and also demanding -in a loving manner- that House make coffee.

When House headed off towards the little apartment, Wilson began to run rounds once more.

[ooc: For the sake of my sanity, please put all 'Morning after' comments into this post. I'll have threads up for all the sickies as soon as LJ lets me. Thank you! :)]

"Damn," Sam said, although that definitely seemed inadequate. "Drusilla's a vampire, too? I knew there was something wrong with that guy, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I should have known better than to trust that the Dean knew what the hell he was doing."

She glanced towards the back, worried. "I'm holding down the desk so Wilson and House can get some sleep. After you check on them, will you please come back and let me know how they are?"

"Well, he knows now. What the Dean will do about it, damned if I know." Parker pushed a hand through her hair, and shrugged. "Marty said Professor Drusilla wasn't in great shape after their fight, so she can't have gotten far."

"And yeah, as soon as I know how they are, I'll let you know... if they're up to seeing me, that is."

[[and if lj quits being a pain and swallowing my comments!]]

"And you? You're okay?" She scanned Parker over from head to toe looking for injuries. "I guess there'll be an organized search party or something for her. She won't get far," she said, trying to sound reassuring.

"Thanks, Parker."

[[Yeah, good luck with that.]]

"I'm fine. I wasn't anywhere near *that* part of the action." Parker shakes her head. "I hope like hell someone's looking for her-- deranged *and* a vampire is more than the police can probably handle, though."

Sam let out the breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. when Parker said she was okay. "Aren't there...people who take care of this kind of thing?"

"Yeah." Parker smiled without humor. "Angelus was screwing one of them, Faith. Buffy's his ex. So I guess we could go ask Sonia Belmont, maybe, and see if she's up to it? Someone told me after Anakin wore a skirt that she's a Slayer too." She rubbed her head. "They're supposed to kill vampires, but that's against the rules on-campus. Don't ask me what applies off-campus." She sighed. "Which is why...." Then her face goes blank, and she shrugs. "Well. Hopefully the Dean will handle it."

Sam sighed. "What is it with girls and bad boys? I just don't get it."

"Parker? What did you do?"

"Don't look at me. I'm the girl their mothers warned them about."

Parker looks away. "Uh. Well... There was a plan, and a spell, and..." She sighed, rubbing her neck. "I don't know if it worked or not. Too soon to tell, really. If it did, I'll give you all the details when I know for sure. It was supposed to neutralize Angelus, but who the hell knows if it did?"

"And I'm the girl they introduce to their mothers so they can go out and date girls like you on the sly," Sam retorted, "because you're fun, and exciting."

"A spell? Oh, Parker...What happens if the spell didn't work? Will he know that you attempted something?" She tried to catch Parker's eye. "How much trouble are you going to be in?"

"Hey, I paid you in lipsticks. And liquor! What you do after that is your own lookout." Parker grinned.

"I don't know. And.. I don't think so?" Parker sighed. "And the Dean knows, so. Some authority on my side, some help, I hope? But I don't think Angelus's friends will see it that way, if they find out."

"I may need a crash course in girlhood," Sam muttered, lowering her voice so there was no chance Annoying Man would hear her from his bed down the hall. "I haven't done this in a while."

"I hope the Dean knows what he's doing," Sam said. "And no, I wouldn't count on Angelus's friends being real amenable to logic and reason."

Parker shook her head tolerantly. "Well, it's not like I'm a typical girl, but I'd be happy to give you ammo against the mail of the species. They need all the grief we can give them."

"Which is why you'll forgive me if I label the rest of this discussion 'classified' until I find out what happened. Right now, it's all very vague, and fuzzy, and the fact that the witnesses are all on drugs doesn't help at the moment." Parker rolled her eyes. "I'm gonna go see how they're doing."

A little while later, Parker returns, looking tired. "They're all going to be okay. But they'll have to be here through the weekend, probably."

Re: The Waiting Room

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-20 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, at least they'll be here together," Sam replied, "and we know they can't get into any more trouble."

Re: The Waiting Room

Parker grimaced. "Wanna bet?"

"Point. Hopefully it'll be the non-lethal kind of trouble then," Sam said, running a hand through her hair.
