Wilson and House had been up the whole night, between hourly checks on Rory, Marty and Logan they had -laughably- tried to relieve each other for a few hours of sleep but each had been too keyed up to take advantage and after the first try had given up.

The oncologist had quietly worked on paperwork in between rounds, while House had played with his gameboy. For the moment, neither had brought up the subject of what had just happened with the other, it was just all too confusing and in the end, not important to delivering medical attention. In some ways, it was better that they didn't have the details, that would just confuse the focus.

As morning dawned, Wilson had taken advantage of a quick break to grab a shower and clean the blood off his skin and out of his hair. He'd come back and tagged House out, firmly suggesting that the older doctor needed to put some intense heat therapy on that bad leg of his...and also demanding -in a loving manner- that House make coffee.

When House headed off towards the little apartment, Wilson began to run rounds once more.

Angela enters the room. her eyes flick over Logan's cuts, his swollen nose, the bandages on his neck and cast on his arm.

She gasps in dismay. "You look as bad as Rory and Marty," she says. "I'd ask what happened? But I can guess. Angelus."

She leans back against the doorframe. "How did you guys get away?"

"You kidding me? I kicked his ass. He ran away in tears," Logan said with a wry smile.

Angela never knows how to take Logan's sense of humor, but it does sometimes break the tension. Like right now.

"So he looks much worse than you and Rory, huh? Like, pile-of-dust worse?"

"Nah," Logan said with a wave of his hand. "I let him live. The knowledge that I bested him is punishment enough."

Angela runs one hand through her hair. Not. Good.

"Very generous of you," she says. "Before he ran away, did he, like, change, or act funny, or seem confused or ... anything? Because we were trying a spell, and ... um. It would be nice to know if it worked."

"If it didn't..." She can't finish the sentence.

Logan frowned, suddenly serious. "Something happened. He was -- he backed off suddenly. His eyes got all glowy and he was kinda freaking out. What did you guys do?"

"That could be good news," Angela says cautiously. "We were -- he told you about Angel, right? The whole thing where he gets a soul and it makes him less dangerous? Ms. Maclay did that spell for us. Aziraphale helped."

"We had no idea if it worked. But if he backed off, maybe..."

"He told me about the soul, yeah," Logan said darkly. "Don't really see how that makes him less dangerous, though."

"It's who he thought he was zombie weekend. You didn't see him because-" She flushes, remembering where and who Logan had been zombie weekend. "You, um, weren't yourself either."

Angela bites her lip, thinking of how to phrase what she has to say. "I agree that he's still dangerous. The green guy at Caritas knew him as Angel, and he said that."

"But it was the only choice we had, other than killing him -- and for that, we'd have to know where he was. Besides, if you believe Ms. Maclay, it's a *really* mean curse, so he's suffering. Which makes it better than death on a couple of grounds, as far as I'm concerned."

"Suffering is good," Logan agreed. "Dead is safer, but suffering's a good start."

"That's what Parker said," Angela says. "I just hope it's enough to keep him from hurting anyone else." She rubs her forehead. "I guess we just wait for him to turn up, now, either way."

"Oh -- as soon as you get out of here, go to Mr. Phale's and get him to bless a cross for you and one for Rory. He did it for mine, and my necklace knocks him back about three feet. Even if the spell did work, I'm not taking it off as long as he's at this school."

Logan nodded. "Thanks," he said softly.

"What happened to Marty?" Logan asked in surprise.

Logan gave a little half-smile at that. "Yeah, I'm sure I'm just the person he wants to see."

"It's nothing," Angela says, shortly. She could bring up the point that if Logan hadn't been so friendly with Angelus, he and Rory probably wouldn't be here, but ... she figures he paid the price.

She stretches her arms over her head. "I'm going to go sit with Marty for a little bit. Shout if you need anything, okay?"

"What happened to Marty?" Logan asked in surprise.

"Oh, shit, you don't know," Angela says. "Um -- Professor Drusilla happened to Marty. We did the spell at Phale's
shop. She -- she's a vampire, by the way, and I'm so thrilled the school told us -- must have followed us there. Marty heard her and went after her and, she-" Angela swallows. "They fought. He'll be okay, but he looks about as good as you do. He's in Exam 3, if you want to go see him once he wakes up."

Logan gave a little half-smile at that. "Yeah, I'm sure I'm just the person he wants to see."

Angela makes a strangled laughing sound. "I am so far beyond 'I told you so.' I hope he is too."
