FTEC -- Monday [December 20]
This week, it was true that she was a little more relaxed than she had been the week before and Ino had managed the walk without Zack trailing around with her like a puppy--though she'd kissed him that morning and promised to call anyway--which was good. And her hands still worked, which was even better.
… And Ino was possibly going to be paranoid about that for a good while. Which would be why she was practicing diagnostic jutsu on herself today, specifically her hands, which was a curious thing because it required her hands to work in order to use the jutsu, but truly, logic was having little place in her making sure that things were well and in order.
The practice was good for her anyway, she told herself virtuously. And if she screwed up, nothing would happen because all these jutsu did was take readings and note abnormalities.
It was a little harder to work them in the twinkling of Christmas lights, as Fandom had decided they didn't need real lights today, but Ino was determined and persevered.

Day Shift -- Front Desk
Re: Day Shift -- Front Desk
See? He cared.
"Yo, Rookie," he quirked a little grin as he stepped into the clinic. "Not takin' off for the vacation?"
Re: Day Shift -- Front Desk
"Not yet," she said, almost absently. While she carefully began the work of dismantling the jutsu and the lines started to recede.
Re: Day Shift -- Front Desk
Man, he could live a long time and never see mako again, and he'd be alright with that.
"Oooh, so you do have plans, huh?"
Re: Day Shift -- Front Desk
"Zack and I were thinkin' of visiting my parents for a bit. Nothin' major."
Re: Day Shift -- Front Desk
See how truly torn he was? Decisions were difficult!
"How did you hold up the other week, by the way?"
Reno was nothing if not forward.
Re: Day Shift -- Front Desk
"It was a week," she said, very flatly.
It had to be Rikku who'd said something. Reno the chicobo would not have noticed anything weird at all.
Re: Day Shift -- Front Desk
"That good, huh?" His eyes took in the clench of her hand, and then flicked back up to meet her own. "You weren't on the island."
He'd noticed that much, too.

Day Shift -- Exam Rooms
Exam Room 01
And, once they were both in, she was going to... avoid sitting on the cot like it had the plague and seat herself in the only seat in the room.
Then she was going to study her hands.
Yup.
Re: Exam Room 01
"What's up, Rookie?"
Once again, there he went, cutting straight to the chase. Reno was well-versed in tact, but he only broke it out when he figured it would actually do him any good.
Re: Exam Room 01
But she was fairly certain that Reno would say something to break it. Maybe. Or else he'd let her nerves do that and Ino just... wasn't up to that sort of game right now. Not when she still slept not so much curled up by Zack but clinging to him like a lifeline and she spent hours inspecting her hands to make sure they still worked and...
"The Crescent Unit decided that the best way to get to Zack," she said, not mumbling but her voice was quite quiet, "was to go after me."
Re: Exam Room 01
They'd never gone after Aerith. Reality was spiralling onward without him in a way that he could no longer hope to predict. That scared him a little, but he'd never let that show.
"You piss 'em off?"
Neutral. So, so neutral.
Re: Exam Room 01
"Killed a few of them a while back."
Made her fair game.
Didn't that make it her fault, in some way?
Re: Exam Room 01
Yeah, he could guess where that had gone.
"You're still alive," he noted, because that seemed to be the inexplicable part. It had nothing to do with his opinion of the rookie, and he hoped that his tone implied as much. But he was also familiar with the Crescent. They'd put SOLDIER through enough trouble. Anything less didn't stand much of a chance, himself included.
Re: Exam Room 01
"Wanted Zack," she said, keeping things short. "Wanted information. Needed me alive for that."
And even then, she'd barely been alive when Zack had found her.
