fandom_clinic | FTEC -- Monday [December 20]

This week, it was true that she was a little more relaxed than she had been the week before and Ino had managed the walk without Zack trailing around with her like a puppy--though she'd kissed him that morning and promised to call anyway--which was good. And her hands still worked, which was even better.

… And Ino was possibly going to be paranoid about that for a good while. Which would be why she was practicing diagnostic jutsu on herself today, specifically her hands, which was a curious thing because it required her hands to work in order to use the jutsu, but truly, logic was having little place in her making sure that things were well and in order.

The practice was good for her anyway, she told herself virtuously. And if she screwed up, nothing would happen because all these jutsu did was take readings and note abnormalities.

It was a little harder to work them in the twinkling of Christmas lights, as Fandom had decided they didn't need real lights today, but Ino was determined and persevered.

ZOMG WHY THE SCREAMING? IT IS A GOOD THING.

Never let it be said that Reno couldn't find his Rookies if he had half a mind to. Rikku had mentioned to him that something had been off about Ino in class last week, and so he was going to take it upon himself to check up on her.

See? He cared.

"Yo, Rookie," he quirked a little grin as he stepped into the clinic. "Not takin' off for the vacation?"

I HAVE DONE NO SHOPPING ~~BECAUSE I AM A POOR ART STUDENT~~ AND SO I HAVE DRAWINGS TO DO AND AAAAAAAH.

She glanced up, green lines glowing around her hands, and it was obvious from the abstracted look in her eyes that most of her attention wasn't quite on him, or on anything around her that he was going to be able to see, for the moment.

"Not yet," she said, almost absently. While she carefully began the work of dismantling the jutsu and the lines started to recede.

Reno watched those glowing lines, noting how the green glow of it all was so reminiscent of mako.

Man, he could live a long time and never see mako again, and he'd be alright with that.

"Oooh, so you do have plans, huh?"

It might have glowed the same way, but it was very different in effect from mako. The glow flickered and slid inside of her hands, fading out as she shook her head, shaking away the remnants of the readouts, and focusing on him.

"Zack and I were thinkin' of visiting my parents for a bit. Nothin' major."

"Hey, better'n nothin'," Reno noted. "I still ain't figured out what I'm doin' this break. I heard talk of plans of movin' to Junon, back home, but then, Rikku's been talkin' about doin' on runs for fiends in Spira, too."

See how truly torn he was? Decisions were difficult!

"How did you hold up the other week, by the way?"

Reno was nothing if not forward.

She narrowed her eyes, fingers clenching as she tensed up.

"It was a week," she said, very flatly.

It had to be Rikku who'd said something. Reno the chicobo would not have noticed anything weird at all.

Well, no. Reno the chicobo had been more interested at blowing raspberries at people. Pbbth!

"That good, huh?" His eyes took in the clench of her hand, and then flicked back up to meet her own. "You weren't on the island."

He'd noticed that much, too.

"Visiting Midgar," she said, trying for airy and failing by a rather huge amount.

... Part of her wanted to tell him.

And part of her was curling up and considering how to best hide under the desk so he wouldn't have to hear about how utterly useless she'd been.

A huge amount and then some, when trying to hide from a Turk.

"Just visiting?"

Reno was pretty good with dealing with people admitting to what they considered to be failure. They had a long, long way to go before they could match him in that regard, after all.

Her shoulders slumped a bit.

"A crappy visit?"

Yeah, Ino, that wasn't going to work. Not when she was eyeing him like he was going to bite her head off.

"Must've been pretty shitty, to have you tryin' to skirt around it like that," Reno noted, pursing his lips thoughtfully. "You wanna take it somewhere away from the desk to talk about it? I'm sure one of these fine nurse-types would be happy to hold down the fort, zoto."

He shot his most flirty grin to a nurse who was passing by. The kind of grin that he figured would make her go weak in the knees.

Being hot was something he did well, and he knew it.

Ino would've shuffled her way into the room had her steps not been so light. As it was, she was moving reluctantly.

And, once they were both in, she was going to... avoid sitting on the cot like it had the plague and seat herself in the only seat in the room.

Then she was going to study her hands.

And going from the giggling coming from the nurse he was doing it well.

Ino eyed him. Eyed the nurse.

Weighed her odds of getting out of this and came up with an answer that she both dreaded and... didn't.

"That'll be fine," she said, with a sigh as the nurse nodded her agreement. "This way, then."

Ino, don't sound like you're walking to a funeral.
