FTEC -- Monday [October 11]

Maybe it had be weird of her to stay behind? But really, Ino was quite happy to wander into work that morning and take her customary place at the front desk. She highly doubted that there'd be anyone who'd need her attention, but…

That was alright. Despite the way that the nurses glanced askance at her. She knew herself well enough, after all, to know that she tended to get bored after a day or two of vacation and besides, Zack was here which really made the whole point of going on vacation without him seem utterly ridiculous and insane.

So, she settled in at the desk, still working on her homework from Professor Devereaux—even if the Professor wasn't teaching this semester; that was just a detail she was ignoring.

Unlike all the details she'd been told quite firmly that she wasn't allowed to ignore any longer.

She flushed. Okay, that was... well, that was more than nice--

That was pretty fantastic to hear really.

"Thank you," she murmured, stealing another one of those kisses there. That statement deserved kisses.

Even if it wasn't helpful.

Helpful and sweet often were not in the same zip code as one another, sadly. But if sweet won him kisses, then helpfulness could wait a moment!

The Zack worked in mysterious ways!

Kind of.

"You're welcome, Ino."

She smiled at him gently. "Is there anything you don't want your fake-girlfriend to do?"

"You mean, my real girlfriend, just acting like someone else?"

He had to check to be sure, here, because he was suddenly struck with the inexplicable fear that while they were in Midgar, she was somehow temporarily not his girlfriend, just so that she could pretend to be a different person who happened to be his girlfriend.

It didn't make sense, no. Did it really have to?

Ino's first inclination was to laugh at that question, but she glanced at him and her eyes gentled.

"That's exactly it," she said, reaching out to kidnap one of his hands. "I'm always yours, after all."

Awwww. Okay, he was going to pull her into a squashy sort of hug, now. After all, you only needed one free arm for stuff like that!

"Okay then," he replied. "If that's the case, do I get to veto the laugh?"

... Well, if you'd heard that laugh, you'd veto it, too.

She looked a bit sheepish and more than a bit apologetic. "I don't think I can get rid of that entirely."

And, well, okay. That laugh? Was annoying. But it was really fun to do.

"Nah, I didn't think so," Zack sighed. "That's fine, I'll just have to get used to it, I suppose."

Or else invest in earplugs. Earplugs were cheap, right?

"Sorry," she murmured. "I'll make it up to you?"

That got a lopsided little grin out of Zack.

"I'd say that you'd have to go with me on one date, for every time you laughed like that. But then you'd be laughing that way all the time, right?"

"You think so, huh?" She arched an eyebrow.

Okay, she totally would, but...

"You could totally prove me wrong," Zack replied, laughing. "I mean, if you think I'm totally wrong."

She huffed at him.

"I don't think that sounds much fair at all."

"Well, it's not like I'll stop taking you out on dates otherwise," Zack laughed, shaking his head. "We can go on one just as soon as I get back, if you want. I mean, we've got this whole island, and it's practically empty, right?"

"What would we do?" she asked, big-eyed at the idea. A date! They hadn't gone on a real date in a while!

That was a good question! What did people tend to do on dates, anyhow?

"We could go out to dinner," Zack decided, because that sounded properly datey. "And then maybe catch a movie, if there's anything good playing."

... That was datey too, right?

"Or go shopping!"

"Or all three?" she said, leaning over to snuggle into him. "Food and then see where we wind up, maybe?"

"That," Zack replied, "totally sounds like a date to me."

... He still wouldn't know proper date procedure if it bit him on the nose. But if she was happy, he was happy!

They kinda... totally failed on the date-ness, but that was alright. She wasn't complaining.

"I'll look forward to it," she said, with a nod of her head. "So you'd better get back, you know."

Ino sighed a bit. "Do you know much 'bout Nibelheim?"

"Nibelheim?" Zack blinked, trying to figure out just where that question had come from. "Not really, except that it's a bit of a backwater town."

He twitched a little smile.

"Cloud's from there." Or from some place called Edge. Zack wasn't entirely certain which way was up, there. "There's a reactor. And I think it's by some mountains, but I've never actually been there. It's one of those places you never really hear anything about."

... Much like Gongaga.

Conversational gambits with Ino were fun, really! Though this, at least, tied into what they'd been talking about before the mention of dates had come up.

"Do you got any problems with your girlfriend bein' from there?"

"None at all, if my girlfriend doesn't mind that I've never actually been there, myself." He tilted his head a little bit.

"If you're from a small mountain town, you'll have to be careful not to complain about things like walking everywhere, or hills or anything like that," he mused, thoughtfully. "Midgar is a cakewalk compared to small towns in the middle of nowhere like that. Cloud and I left Tseng way behind when we were stranded up in Modeo."

Poor, poor Tseng.

"I can do that," she said, smiling at him. "I bounce around a lot anyway and I don't think I've complained once about the distance or nothing."

About the scenery she had to look at, sure, but... that was different.

The scenery in Midgar was nasty. The only reason Zack didn't complain was because there were so many people! Heck, even under the plate, things kind of felt like they were closing in, sometimes.

"Then you've got a good start," Zack decided. "And, I mean, you really are used to crazy terrain, too. So that helps!"

"It does," she said, with a bit of a sigh. "Though I still gotta figure out my family situation and why they're okay with me wanderin' off--or if they aren't okay and we don't talk now--and how I met you and what was I doin' and where was that?"
