FTEC – Saturday [November 15]

She kept yawning and while her textbook was open, and she was taking notes, Ino had to admit to herself that, seriously, she wasn’t retaining very much at all. Too tired.

And when the nurses asked about her date with Ichigo and if he’d be in today, Ino just tugged at her hair and rolled her eyes before chasing them off. How was she supposed to know? Geez. She wasn’t his keeper.

"You're not supposed to fall asleep on the job," Ichigo commented when he did show up with the usual bag of pastries and hot chocolate. Maybe he should have brought coffee.

"I'm not sleeping," she insisted, stifling yet another yawn. "I'm just tired. That's allowed."

"I didn't keep you up that long," he teased, moving towards the desk.

She wrinkled her nose at him cheerfully.

"You didn't," she agreed. "I don't know why I'm so tired, really."

"You could just be lazy," he suggested lightly.

"I am not," she argued, wriggling her hand beseechingly at the hot chocolate.

"Uh huh," he glanced down at her hand pointedly before he handed over the hot chocolate. "You did actually sleep, right?"

"Thank you!" Ino beamed at him, and sipping at her hot chocolate with a happy hum. "I got a bit," she assured him.

"A bit?" he asked, because it didn't sound like a lot.

"Alright then," he plopped down in the chair and tossed her the bag of pastries to pick from. "Anything interesting going on?"

"The nurses want gossip 'bout us," she informed him, setting her drink to the side to poke through the bag. Mmmm, cinnamon. She snagged a cinnamon roll and offered him the bag back.

Huh. "The nurses need a hobby," he put his drink down as well so he could grab a doughnut from the bag.

"I think gossip is their hobby," she confessed, nibbling on her roll.

"Another hobby?" he exchanged the bag for his cup and settled back his chair. "Did you tell them anything?"

"Told 'em I wasn't your keeper and didn't know if you'd be in today for sure," Ino said. "I mean, honest, I thought you might be just 'cause you come visit most weeks but I didn't know for sure."

He considered it for a moment as he sipped from his cocoa. "Maybe I should keep you more on your toes."

That wasn't really fair, she thought.
