FTEC, Tuesday, January 16

Christian wasn't happy to find a patient in his clinic in the morning. It wasn't because it disrupted his plans for the day -- he hated seeing the kids around here get hurt.

He checked over Cally's chart and Janet's notes from the night before. The young woman was stable and she was breathing on her own. Christian made sure she was comfortable and hoped she would wake up that morning so they could find out who did this to her.

"Went to a frat party on Saturday to bust a rapist. Didn't quite go as planned," she said, still looking at Cally. "Fortunately we found her in time, the guy and his partner in crime were caught."

"She bit his ear off," Mac added with a slight smile. "He deserved it."

So it definitely wasn't the same thing. Nadia couldn't help smiling at the ear biting, though. "Good for her. But that sucks, getting attacked twice, so quickly."

"It's been a pretty tough few days," Mac said with a little nod. "I just don't get how this could've happened. Why'd anyone want to hurt her?"

Nadia shrugged. "I've been trying to figure that out, too. You didn't notice anything before hand? Anything weird? Other than her getting attacked and biting someone's ear off, I mean."

"Well, I only saw her at lunch yesterday," Mac said after a moment of thought. "She--" Something suddenly clicked, "She said she'd come see me last night, after talking to someone. She didn't say who, or why or anything, but it didn't seem like it was going to be the good kind of conversation."

"I know. If you think of anything else, let me know. I'm going to see what else I can find out." She glanced over at Cally, flinching again. "And when she wakes up . . . tell her I'm sorry."
