FTEC, Sunday Morning, December 3

Trevor really didn't want to leave the safety of his apartment in the morning. He'd made the mistake of looking out his window and watching some of the trolls in action the night before, and the idea of going out into town and coming across more of those creatures made him more than a little nervous. But, he knew there had to be people in need of medical assistance, and he figured that if he headed out in the early morning, the streets might be quiet.

He was glad to see that there were fewer overnight patients in the clinic than he'd expected, and he made sure to look over all of the previous day's notes before checking each exam room, and double-checking on the supplies. He didn't want to run out if more people came by.

[ocd is up!]

Kneeling in front of Isabel, Natalie placed her fingertips against the edges of the younger woman's kneecap, gently lifting the leg. She watched Isabel for a reaction even as she allowed her fingers to feel for other damage. "What's your name?" she asked.

"Isabel Evans. And right there is where it hurts the most," she said as the Doctor felt the inside of her knee.

"Nice to meet you, Isabel Evans." Nat smiled, then pursed her lips as she turned her attention back to Isabel's knee. "Feels like there's a little bit of swelling and inflammation; probably going to be a bit of bruising. Not the type of damage that would show up on an x-ray...but I can do one, if you'd like. Otherwise, I can give you some anti-inflammatories and we can call it a day."

"No x-rays," Isabel said, wanting to minimize all traces of herself at the clinic. "I'll take your word for it. As for drugs, would tylenol work? I've got a weird metabolism and considering what alcohol does to me, I'd be afraid to take anything stronger."

Standing, shoved her hands into her pockets. "How about ibuprofen? Tylenol might work for the pain, but you really need something a little different to help take down the swelling and inflammation. And you can still get it over the counter."

"That should work," she nodded. "And if it gets really bad, I can always come back and try something stronger if you don't mind keeping an eye on me to see what happens. It wouldn't take long for it to affect me. Trust me." Isabel put her head back and sighed as she realized what her injury meant. "I guess this means I can't go back and help rescue more of my friends?"

Re: Dr. Lambert's Desk

[identity profile] drlambert.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
"You should probably leave the rescue to others, yes. I'm going to give you a gel cold pack. Use that for about 15 minutes once you get back to your room, then go soak in a hot bath or use a hot rag on it for another fifteen minutes. That should help keep the swelling down. Toss the cold pack into a freezer overnight, and then repeat procedure tomorrow morning." She made a note or two on the clinic visit form to be added to Isabel's file. "And, if the ibuprofen doesn't cut it, I have no problem keeping an eye on you. I happen to have a somewhat...difficult...metabolism myself, so I understand. Just wanna get you out there, and maybe dancing again."

"Okay, cold then hot. I can do that," Isabel said. Of course she might not be in her room when she did it, it all depended on what plans were being made and where. "If it's too much for the ibuprofen I'll be back. I don't suppose you have a pair of crutches or something I can borrow so I can get out of here?"

Ranma, who's been standing around awkwardly, offers, "I... can carry you back if you need any help...?"

Natalie passed Ranma the ice pack and, after a moment of digging in a cabinet behind her desk, came up with an instant hot compress as well. "Here. Hold on to these, and I'll grab a pair of crutches from the supply cabinet. Be right back."

She disappeared around a corner, returning after a moment with a pair of stainless crutches. "I think these should be close enough. Feel free to adjust them." A wry grin curved her lips. "And I thought the stainless might come in handy if you run into something nasty on the way home."

"Thanks," Isabel smiled. "Although if I let them get close enough? I found out I can turn them to stone myself."

She pushed herself to her feet and tucked the crutches under her arms, before smiling at Ranma, "A little help wouldn't be a bad thing."

Arching her brows, Natalie shook her head. That would be a neat little trick to learn, she thought. She looked at Ranma to see if the other student would be able to help out.

He takes the ice pack and smiles smally. "Anything you need."

"Thanks," Isabel replied. "I appreciate it. And thank you Doctor. I appreciate it."

"It's not a problem. Just let me know if it continues to bother you."

"No trouble at all." He heads for the door, letting her walk on his own. He's a bit shy around people he doesn't really know.

Isabel followed a bit more slowly, getting used to the crutches. She turned and waved one last time at the Doctor before heading out the door. "So about going back to the dorms..."

"I heard someone mention a meeting at Caritas. Would you mind walking me there?" she asked.

Ranma can understand such resolve. He nods. "Sure. Just don't over-do it okay?"

Re: Dr. Lambert's Desk

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Isabel tried to look innocent. "Who? Me?" Walking carefully down the street, she kept an eye out for trolls. "So anyway, it's nice to meet you."
