FTEC, Wednesday Night

The coming winter made Natalie feel, well, alive. She could feel the cold, and could sense the approaching darkness; she was enjoying every moment of the evenings as night grew longer. It meant she had greater freedom to move around. It also meant that Halloween was close around the corner. She wondered what, if anything, this town did to celebrate the oncoming holiday.

Entering the clinic, she went through her usual set up, checking the charts for updates on Zuko. She would make time to peek in on him shortly.

Pippi (gently) kicks open the front door and enters carrying an unconscious and possibly muttering incoherently Walter.

"Hello?"

Walter's pulse is racing, his temperature is in danger of cooking his brain.

"We're not entirely sure. Pippi explaned. He was apparently part of some experiment when he was younger. He was complaining of headaches and was really grumpy. Nadia found him and called me. He's really hot and he was convulsing for a bit but then it stopped."

Matilda holds the door open and jude floats past her into the clinic, she floats him to the front deak, figuring that Jude can speak for himself for sure.

This was kinda cool, even if doorways made him nervous while floating. He waited for Matilda to lower him into the nearby chair. "Thanks again, bra," he said, smiling. His smile was getting a little drawn, though. Because, you know, ow.

She sets him down onto a chair and smiles. "I'll wait for your grilfriend to get here okay?"

Jude nodded gratefully. "That would be - yeah. Yeah, thanks."

Moving is ow. Remember this, Jude.

Setsuna pretty much burst into the clinic, out of breath, eyes quickly darting around the room. Then she spotted Jude and rushed to his side. "Oh my God, Jude, what happened?"

She nearly fell into him as she slid into the chair next to him and worriedly took his hands in hers.

Matilda stands. "You'll take care of him from here right? Hope you feel better soon Jude."

"'Suna!" Jude beamed broadly, though there was pain in his eyes still. "I, uh, my ramp fell apart on me and I kinda . . . hit a tree and then the ground." He squeezed her hand.

Setsuna's head bobbed quickly in response to Matilda, who she could only assume helped Jude here, although she was a little puzzled as to exactly how. "Yes, I can. Thank you..."

And then she turned to Jude and his explanation, deep concern and worry in her eyes. "You hit a tree? Ohhhh, Juuudeee..." She brought his hands in her up and kissed them lightly, then one hand left to brush the hair out of his eyes. "Are you okay? What...what's the damage, do you think?"

He leaned happily into her hand and her small kisses. Last time he had done something like this he hadn't gotten concern. Just a resigned sigh. He was managing to smile despite the growing pain.

"Um, my ankle is really, really hurting. And I can't move my toes, so I think it's probably broken." Jude's tone indicated that this had happened a few times. Maybe more.

Zuko was bored. He'd even put on the television, but that turned out to be confusing so he quickly turned it off again and went back to his book, trying to actually read it instead of just watch the pictures.

"I... Don't know. Nadia would know I think..." Pippi said looking out the door and gently putting him down on the bed.

Nadia came in after placing a quick phone call to Alfred, just in time to rush after Pippi and Natalie to the exam room. She arrived just at the tail end of Pippi's statement. "I know some stuff. What was the question?"

Nadia nodded quickly. "Last weekend. He said something about blood tests, but when he called in on Monday, they hadn't found anything out."

"His tummy was growling on the way down here, he has to eat a lot." Pippi offered in an attempt to be helpful. "Either he hasn't eaten or he needs more because of whatever's happening?"

Nadia nodded to Pippi. "He's been really hungry. All the time. The experiment was to make his metabolism really high. All the other test subjects died." She gestured to Walter a little helplessly. "Like that. I know the name of the tester and some of the patients, but it happened in the thirties, and I haven't been able to find much else."
