There were people in the clinic tonight, which was a change from recent weeks, though not really a pleasant one. After a quick check to make sure everything was all right with the patients, Stark settled in at the desk. The TV was on, out of habit, but very quietly.

Zuko startled awake, the heart monitor showing a jump in his heartrate as well. His fist was aimed at Marie, but he quickly lowered his hand as he realised who it was.

"You're alright," he said, the statement quickly followed up by another. "What happened to your hair?"

"Sorry!" Marie said. "I wasn't going to wake you." But since he was awake and she was still kind of weak, she sat in the chair she had just tripped over. "I'm okay," she said. "Just tired and sore. And I'm not really sure what happened to my hair. Possibly something to do with the electricity from the lightning?"

Zuko leaned back against the pillow, his body finally getting over his surprise and reminding him that it didn't like sudden movements very much. "I've never heard of that before," he said, absently rubbing at his IV as he kept watching her as if he expected her to vanish any second now.

Marie shrugged. "Unless it had something to do with me getting your powers for a while. But you don't have white hair."

"You could firebend?" Zuko asked her surprised. "But it takes years to learn."

"Well, I sort of didn't get a chance to try," Marie admitted. "I absorbed some of the impact of the lightning strike from you and it knocked us both out."

He vaguely remembered someone touching his arm, but he hadn't really known who as the pain from the lightning had been too intense. "Why did you do that?"

"I wanted to help you," Marie said, looking down. "I'm sorry though."

Zuko looked at hair and he couldn't blame her for being sorry for helping him. "I'm sorry you got caught in my problems," he apologised.

"I'm just sorry I fell for your sister's act," Marie said. "What she and your father did to you is horrible."

If she hadn't mentioned his father, he might have let the remark slide. As it was, his eyes widened. "What did she tell you?" he hissed.

Marie frowned. "She didn't tell me much of anything," she said, not realizing that he didn't understand how her powers worked.

Zuko frowned back at her. "You mentioned my father."

"Well, yeah, I got the memory of him giving you your scar," Marie said.

"What?" Zuko shouted. No one on the island knew about his scar and he didn't see why she would lie to him if Azula had told her. "How?"

"When I touched you," Marie said, her voice small. "I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have done it but I just wanted to help."

"You have ony of my memories because you touched me?" Zuko asked confused. Why did it have to be that one?

"I have a bunch of your memories," Marie replied softly. "It's how my power works. I'm really sorry," she apologized for the third time.

"What else do you know?" Zuko asked, his breathing coming in fast as he tried to imagine what else Marie could have found out.

Marie sighed. "Your mom leaving, your dad giving you the scar and then... making you leave home. That your sister tricked you before and that you're trying to find the Avatar. There's other stuff, too, but those are the big ones."

Zuko looked away and closed his eyes briefly. "You're not supposed to know," he said, realising that his uncle had been right and that he was ashamed.

"I know," Marie said, feeling guilty.

"I am sorry I got you and Bel involved in this," Zuko told her. "Azula could have killed you both."

"It was my own fault," Marie said. "I went with her because I thought I was helping you and I ended up almost getting you killed."

She sighed. "I'm sorry that I used my powers on you."

Now he was confused. "You didn't almost get me killed," he argued. "Azula did that. What you did... You probably saved my life."
