FTEC, Wednesday day

Tommy did a quick check on all the patients - that Tyler kid still wasn't looking good, but comparatively speaking he was starting to look better - and then settled down at his desk to do the very important job of reading the sports section.

Okay, so last night's escape attempt probably was ill-advised.

That's not stopping Walter from working on getting out of bed, and oooh, trying that walking thing again.

Lucky for him Nadia's still asleep. Otherwise she might have to be cute at him and call him "dumbass".

Not so lucky, perhaps, for Nadia, as it's probably pretty obvious that what she's dreaming about isn't good.

That walking thing used to be easier. Walter eased himself out of bed and grabbed the wheelchair left in his room from last night. He dropped heavily into it with a grunt and used his feet to roll him closer to Nadia's cot. Stopping a few feet away, he watched her for a minute before trying to wake her.

"Nadia?"

For the briefest moment, it seemed as if she might have stopped breathing, but then she shuddered awake and coughed.

"Ohhh dios," she muttered. She turned her head, saw Walter, and stiffened. "Oh,"

But he couldn't really blame her, so he kept it off his face. "Nightmare?"

Nadia blinked, trying to clear away the lingering images of the dream. She smiled shakily at Walter and slowly sat up.

Lying down in front of him made her nervous, just now.

"And how. You're supposed to be in bed." Not suddenly much closer to her than she expected.

"I'm not staying in bed forever." He pushed his feet to move the chair away from Nadia, back toward the bed.

To see Pup. That's it.

"I'm sorry if I scared startled you."

"I approve of not forever. Two days isn't forever." Nadia shifted, relaxing slightly as he backed off, even as she berated herself for being twitchy with him close by. It wasn't him, dammit. "And you didn't scare startle me. Bad dream is all."

She resisted the urge to ask him to show her his teeth again.

"Three days. Today's Wednesday. They aren't keeping me that drugged."

He dragged Pup off the bed and into his lap to scritch his ears. "You don't have to stay here." With his quiet tone and the fact that he was looking down at Pup and not up at Nadia, maybe he was talking to the puppy.

Blair's really doesn't want to intrude on Walter, so he sets a couple of books at the door and hopes that Moose Mating Calls will be an interesting read.

Walter turned the wheelchair he was sitting in (http://community.livejournal.com/fandom_clinic/133140.html?thread=5072404#t5072404) around and caught sight of Blair. It was really good to see someone he hadn't tried to hurt.

"Hey, Blair. What are you doing down here?"

"Hey Walter." Blair bounced and held out the books he was holding. "I brought you some reading material and I wanted to say hi and see how you were doing."

"Thanks a lot. Things have been getting pretty boring down here."

"I really wanted to bring you something more educational, but with school being out and all...there's no homework." Blair is very sad about that. "So...uh... wheelchair? How're doing, man?"

"Yeah, pity about the no homework thing," Walter said, trying to make it sound like he might actually mean it.

"The legs work, people just keep yelling at me when I get up, so wheelchair. How's the craziness with the new students?"

"I don't even know if I've met half of them yet, man." Blair leaned against the wall. "There's a lot on my floor though, so I've just been meeting them in the halls. Jude and I are throwing a slumber party in the 4th floor common room tonight, so maybe I'll meet more people!"

After closing up All and Sundries, Seras made her way over to the clinic to visit Pup Walter.

She arrived armed with tea, short bread, and reading material. Seras was still feeling under the weather, but she'd also bought some cold remedies for herself. Apart from definite dark circles under the eyes and the odd sniffle, she was functioning rather well.

She made her way down the hall and poked her head into Exam Room #4.

Walter looked up from Moose Mating Calls and smiled at Seras. He was still seated in the wheelchair, which for some reason had towels thickly padding its handles.

"Hey."

Seras stepped into the room and smiled.

"A wheelchair, eh?" she said with a decidedly cheeky grin, "And here I've been using my legs like a sucker..."

"It's the latest craze," Walter said, grinning back. "All the popular kids will have them."

Seras came forward, examining the chair the way the neighborhood guys might examine a friend's new car.

"Brilliant model. Absolutely top of the line."

She bent down and gave the right wheel a squeeze.

"Just needs some racing stripes. Maybe stick some baseball cards in the wheel spokes."

"Pippi and Nadia have some plan for us to be football hoolies. I think baseball cards are contrary to that."

With clogs or body paint.

Hm... Swedes in body paint?

Walter looked a bit vacant for a moment. Maybe it was the drugs.

Seras laughed at the idea of football hoolies in wheelchairs.

Then, she noticed Walter's vacant expression.

"You need tea," she said, "STAT."

Walter came back from his nude, body painted, Swedish footballer reverie to nod at the offer of tea.

"You sound as though you could use some, too."
