The clinic was a mess.

The lobby and hallway were full of crumpled coffee cups and the scent of emo. A few bodies remained huddled against the walls and on benches. Christian quietly checked them and found each person just sleeping, so there hadn't been a coffee Jonestown going on last night.

At least the patient in Exam One seemed much better. Christian examined Angel and found him sleeping peacefully, no fever or chills. So maybe whatever they'd done had worked despite wrecking havoc in the clinic. Careful not to disturb the vampire or the young man passed out in the chair next to him, Christian noted Angel's condition on his chart, then returned to the desk in the lobby, hoping people would wake up soon and clean up this mess.

Angel's eyes flickered open. For the first time in a long while, he looked more like himself. "Logan?"

"Hey," Logan turned back to the bed and smiled at Angel. "How are you feeling?"

Angel smiled back. "Better. Much better. You?"

"I'm good," Logan said. "You look better. You're really damn stubborn, you know that?"

Angel pillowed his head on his right hand. "I may have heard that once or twice."

"Yeah, well, I'm sure you'll hear it many times again. What with you being alive and all." He couldn't hold back a grin.

Angel smiled back. "Thanks to you."

Logan laughed and shook his head. "Wasn't me, dude. Lot of people involved in this one."

"Was you in the end," Angel said. "I wouldn't have drunk, Logan. Not even if they forced me."

"Yeah, well," Logan stuffed his hands in his pockets, "I'm good with people." He gave Angel a wink.

"Better than you think," Angel replied.

Must've been a warm room, 'cause Logan's cheeks were turning a little pink. He shrugged. "It's a gift." He looked at Angel and added in a more serious tone, "I'm glad you're all right."

"Thank you," Angel said. He didn't have a lot of words, but those two seemed to carry a great deal of weight.

"You're welcome," Logan said. He withdrew his hands from his pockets, then folded his arms across his chest, as if not sure what his arms were supposed to be doing at the moment. "Try and stay away from psychotic blondes with poison from now on, okay?"

"Hang out with non-poisonous psychotic blondes," Angel said. "Check."

Logan nodded. There was silence for a moment. Finally Logan jerked his thumb in the direction of the dorms. "I was going to go home and sleep some more. You okay? Need anything before I go?"

"I'm okay," Angel said. "Will I - I'll see you later, right?"

Logan nodded. "Unless I somehow become invisible, which, you know, could happen around here. But in that case, you'd hear me later."

"Unless you turn mute," Angel said. "Though if you're not talking you're not really you anymore."

Logan looked offended at that. "I'd still be me if I was quiet."

"Just saying I like that you're not shy," Angel said.

Logan grinned. "At least someone does."

Angel smiled, not looking away from Logan's eyes. "You'd still be you if you were quiet."

Logan considered that, then shrugged. "Nah, you're right. It'd be weird. If I lost my voice I'd have to have signs or a little whiteboard or something."

Angel looked as though he were moments away from drifting off to sleep again. "Sounds like a lot of work."
