Wednesday February 1, 2006

He opens the clinic around 10 am, puts a pot of hazelnut coffee on to brew, and a soft jazz CD on the stereo system.

He fishes a red lolly pop out of the desk drawer, then commences to going throug the drawers. There's not much, really. He's made sure of that with his periodic and impulsive cleaning sprees. He found the box of pens Wilson had ordered long ago, that he'd retrieved out of the trash after one of his fits of total destruction. He sighed and stashed the flimsy plastic container in his shoulder bag.

There wasn't much else worth keeping, but he put what little there was in a small box. The desk in he office was much the same, and the box he'd filled was light enough that he could manage it back to his apartment. He set to work on reorganising the filing cabinent in the office, because it was something to do to pass the time.

Doctor is in and available, though on SP until after 3pm est. Assistants were welcome to pick up a thread. Come bleed, steal coffee, or say goodbye. Friday will be Dr House's last day in the clinic

"What were the circumstances of her death? Was it simple complications of birth, or something else?" Susan looked over at the grandfather and little boy, off to the side, uncentered, off-balance, and decided to wait on asking about that.

"I'm afraid I don't know the whole story," Pip said. "But I think part of it was that my dad died. It really hurt her. And while she did have the will to live for me, there were complications during birth and her system was partially compromised by the depression and... that was it."

Susan nodded. "And your grandfather raised you then. Your grandmother, or your mother's family? Were they around at all, as you grew up?" She offered him another figurine: a little porcelain grandmother figure, her hair in a bun, wearing an apron.

"My mother's family never really liked my dad's family. They didn't have much to do with us. MY grandmother was there sometimes. Whenever we were home, she'd be there," he said, placing the figureine next to him and his grandfather.

"And here in the center, you're alone now. Is that the way you want it? Your soldier-self is alone in the future, too. The family is separated from him."

Pip frowned. "Well, no. I don't want to be alone. I really don't. I guess I just kind of see myself like that. Kind of... cut off from everyone else. I mean, I never made any real friends my age, because we'd always just move within a couple of months. And the kids back home hated me."

"Is that still true here?" Susan asked carefully. "Are you still without friends? You mentioned 'waking up' with someone. How did that come about?"

Pip frowned and shook his head. "Well, no. There's Walter and Pippi. Victor, Shep, Cam. Duo. Bunch of 'em. And there's Maia and Chiana. Maia's the one I woke up with. I met her when she stopped by meeting the new students. I promised her a dance at the school dance, she missed, I made it up to her. And... well, one thing led to another... the time I was referring to was when I pointed out that we could free up a bed if we slept together." He grinned, a little embaressed.

[[Sorry! I only just got the comment just now. *kicks LJ's supposed "repairs"]]

"Ah." Susan smiled slightly. "Right then." She checked her watch. "Do you mind if we continue this next week? I have several thoughts I'd like to explore then, and I'm going to leave the sand tray as it is. Is there anything you need right at the moment? Are the nightmares bad enough that you can't sleep?"

[let's continue this later-- it's gotten way long, and I'm getting pulled into other stuff. same time, next week?]

Pip shook his head. "The meditation is helping. Thank you doctor." He stood up and nodded before leaving.

[[Sure. Not a problem at all.]]
