The passage of air was LOUD today and Wilson moved very, very carefully in an attempt to keep the air as still as possible. He was late opening the Clinic not because he was late getting *to* the Clinic but because he was moving very slowly…in the hope of keeping the air really quiet.

Getting the doors open, he started a pot of coffee and sucked back the third 20oz bottle of water he’d been drinking since about oh…not too many hours ago. Putting a happy face on, he managed to do rounds without passing out, which was a blessing, checking in on Rory, Logan and Jack before crawling back up to the front desk.

Sitting down, very carefully –DAMN AIR WILL YOU SHUT UP!- Wilson leaned forward till he could cradle his head on his forearms. Seven…liquors….what the hell had he been thinking last night?

Dragging his water bottle down into his lap to snuggle it close, Wilson reached for the half a piece of bagel he’d been trying to choke down for over an hour now. He was about half-way through it. By noon he might be finished with it.

If I live that long…Crowley is going to kill me.

Taking a slow breath, Wilson sat up and reached for a chart. He was being in his charting and really needed to catch up, if the little black squiggly lines would just stay still long enough for him to read them.

Rory's brow creases. "Yeah, but you at least admit it was you who made the mistakes. Not some evil version of yourself. And...who was fighting with you on that? Because they're way, way wrong."

"Veronica Mars." Yeah. Marty's feeling bitter.

"Something happened and now she thinks he's some king of fluffy bunny that we can trust. Not.Going.To.Happen."

Rory rolls her eyes. "Okay, how many different ways do I have to tell people that Veronica messes up? She trusts bad people, and she accuses good ones. Though...she was right about Angelus," she amended softly. "But still. She...she's reckless."

"Right. Maybe we should change the topic away from Mars and how she was right and that guy who wears to much hairgel. What do you think?"

"Are you staying in town for Thanksgiving? Or you going home to visit the Grandmother from Prada Hell?"

"I'm staying here. Mom and Luke and I are doing a thing at the diner, I think." She tilts her head, grinning. "Heard you get to meet Mr. Chase. Excited?"

Marty grins. "Yeah... I'm slightly nervous about that. Especially with the whole separation thing going on between Angela's parents. On the plus side? I'm hoping to get the embarassing family stories on Angela. I have to admit I'm looking forward to getting out of here for several days."

"You know, you and Angela said exactly opposite things," Rory giggles. "She was all talking about how she hopes she isn't embarrassed. And...getting out of here would be nice. I'm kind of sad I can't go to Vegas, actually."

"You met her sister. I don't see how I can be there four days and *not* get some good dirt on her," Marty says with a sly grin. "As for missing the trip to Vegas, how do you feel about Paris? I know that Parker was talking about getting a group together for a trip there."

"Paris?" Rory's eyes light up. "Yes! Let's go to Paris! My mom and I are going to backpack through Europe after I graduate, but...Paris. And knowing Parker, it'll be Paris done right."

She fishes under her bed, and pulls out the chocolate Parker had given her. "Here, have some. She gave me this back when it was totally contraband, and it's like heaven."

Marty snags a chocolate. "You've just got all people smuggling in the good stuff for you. You better drink that coffee before House or Wilson catches you."

"Yeah Paris is nice. I've been there a couple of times, especially if you know how to annoy the waiters there just soooooo."

"I'm allowed to have it!" Rory says gleefully, picking up the coffee cup. "Wilson said I can. And I'm not on the IV anymore, so I don't even have to worry about it. And...you really like annoying food-serving type people, don't you?"

"Me? No. Just French people in general. Well.... that and the look on your Dad's face when I order an Omelette."

Rory beams. "You called him my dad. That's...most people don't."

"I always assumed he was. Until that whole thing with your real Dad happened. Luke seems pretty cool in a grouchy kind of way."

"He is," Rory nods. "I've known him...pretty much my whole life, and he's really a great guy. And he's not half as grouchy as he wants everyone to think."

Marty gives Rory a wistful smile. "Yeah... well he seems to think the world of you. He certainly put up with the whole glitter fiasco on your birthday. If that doesn't say parenthood, I don't know what does."

Marty slowly pushes himself out of his chair. "I better get back to the dorm and pack for our trip tomorrow, but if you need anything let me know. I'll have Camilla come over and bring you whatever you need."

"Oh, has Camilla met Vladdie yet?" Rory asks. "He's around here somewhere. Possibly with Logan."

"I don't think they have. Camilla will be here over the break, so they might have a chance to meet."

"Fun stuff," Rory smirks. "Anyway, have fun with the packing, and good luck with Ange's dad if I don't see you before then."
