Jack O'Neill - Clinic Hours - Tuesday, October 25th

Jack comes in and sets up his things, homework, radio, mini-tv, and a few notebooks. He was hoping to have a slow night and be able to get some homework done before tomorrow. And to avoid Cuddy like the plague.

Jack clicked on the radio and cracked open a book.

"I guess it does. But you still can't keep Murray."

Sam wondered at the myriad of expressions that crossed Parker's face, but decided not to push. The girl did have a ruptured ulcer after all. "It must be nice to have had friends from childhood with whom you're still in contact. So you don't date them. They're still your friends, right?"

"Nuts. Not even for a little while?" Parker wheedled.

"Exactly," Parker said firmly. "Angelo writes-- well, as much as he ever does. Jarod calls, sometimes. I wish they could be here, but it'd be.. kind of weird, if they were. I haven't seen them in almost two years."

"You can take that up with Murray when he comes for Parents' Weekend, all right? So you better get well soon--otherwise you won't have the energy to negotiate properly."

"Why would it be weird? And just because you're away from someone doesn't mean you're any less friends with them. I mean, look at Charlie, Janet, and Daniel."

Parker looked uncomfortable, and a little bitter. "It just would be. The geniuses would take over again. They're easier to deal with when they're in Blue Cove, that's all. Plus they'd torment me. It's their thing."

"Genuises? Parker, it's not like you're stupid. How many languages do you speak? Who cares if they're smart? You kick ass. And you're a great shot. And you'd break me out of jail. I could pass them on the street and would have no idea who they were."

"If you wore your hair in pigtails so the boys could pull them, maybe you wouldn't have that problem."

"Five languages. And it's not like I don't know I'm smart. It's just hard to be compared to guys my age who have already, for instance, passed their MCATs. Only that was three years ago." Parker rubs the bridge of her nose. "I still miss them, though, the brats."

"And if I did that, I'd be permanently bald, either from Crichton or O'Neill having fun, or the bitch fights with some of the females around here. Not happening."

"Huh. Okay, I can see how that would be a little..." Do not say intimidating to Parker, Carter "annoying. Are they coming for Parents' Weekend?"

"Okay, point there."

Parker's expression relaxed into simple regret. "No. But I'm hoping I'll get to see them at Christmas. I'm talking to my father about that when he visits this weekend. I don't want to spend the holidays in Gstaad or Monaco this year, I just want to see my friends."

"Exactly. Isn't that why you keep your hair short?"

"Well, I hope things work out for your trip home, then. Although I'm sure Gstaad and Monaco are...very nice."

"Partly. But it's also because it keeps getting caught in the gears when I work."

"Ah. That explains it. And on you, it works. Adama should borrow your hair-care products.

"Thanks. And I don't want Adama anywhere near my hair-care products. Specially formulated."

"Well, let me know how the date goes. I'll start a fund for the bail money. I'm sure people will want to chip in," Parker said with a grin.
