Fandom Clinic, Monday 9/19
"Stabby has an eyepatch?" Stark asked when he arrived with the usual coffees that morning after his class.
"And a hat!"
"I see that. But the eyepatch is very new and he's had hats before." Stark was trying to figure out how the patch was even staying on. But this was Fandom and it was best not to to think too hard on these things.
"He's a pirate crab-tain," the nurse said, exasperated. "It be talk like a pirate day
Yarr!" The look Stark was being given implied he really needed to keep up. Probably because he hadn't noticed the pirate themed scrubs the nurses were wearing.
"Oh." Unsure what else to say, Stark just say down at the desk with his coffee.
"Ye'd best be showing Cap'n Stabby the proper respects now!"
The clinic was open, the alien was a bit lost, and the crab had been promoted.

Front Desk
Re: Front Desk
"John Doe, mid-thirties, found on the causeway. Visible deformities to the right leg, severe laceration to the neck, both bandaged in the field, looks like malnutrition and dehydration to boot. Sats unknown. Minimally conscious and responsive."
Well, Stark. At least you got to see your firefighter boyfriend be professional once in a while?
Re: Front Desk
He looked up at the door opening then jumped up and walked quickly over to Travis when it became obvious something was wrong.
"What happened?" he asked softly. The nurses had followed, all seriousness now. "We'll need to take him back. Quickly."

Exam Rooms
Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"You're going to be okay," he told Arthur, giving his bloodied left hand a soft squeeze, since that was the one the man had seemed to be using at all confidently. "You're in good hands here, okay?"
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"It's all right, Arthur," John said. "We're okay for now. We're in another hospital, I think." He looked over at Travis and down at his hand as it was squeezed. His fingers twitched, but he wasn't sure he wanted to hold a stranger's hand just yet, and anyway all the muscle control in the world was having a hard time overcoming the weakness of blood loss.
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"You're safe here," he said quietly. "We'll take care of you."
The nurses were already busy doing just that. "He's lost a lot of blood," one said, moving to take care of that situation.
"He needs blood," Stark agreed. "And stitches. And...Will, I think."
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"Good girl, Probie. That was a very good girl. Let's get you some treats."
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
He murmured something that might have been a prayer but not in any language anyone here would know.
"What happened to you?" he asked, barely audible. Then, in a louder voice, "we'll need stitches. And his leg will need looking at. And everything needs to be cleaned. And he... he must be in pain."
Arthur wasn't dying. Stark was certain of that much. He just wanted to make sure he stayed that way.
"Stable first. The leg can wait a bit, I think? His neck, then everything else."
The nurses, who were very good at their jobs in spite of how little practice they got at these things, were already on it. And one was hopefully calling Will.
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
By the time he arrived the neck wound had at least been seen to, and the various less-serious scrapes cleaned and bandaged. Which left that leg.
Will was suddenly incredibly glad for all the CMEs he'd been attending on the mainland, because one of the more recent ones had actually been on orthopedic surgery.
"I'm going to sedate you now so I can work on that leg," he told the patient. The chart had said minimally conscious and responsive, so Will wasn't expecting too much in the way of an answer, but hopefully there would be some sort of acknowledgement.

Had nobody briefed you on your alien employee when you took over, Will?
"What can I help you with?"
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"Fluids? I can do that. Yes." He nodded, already turning. There was already a needle in the poor man's arm, he just needed another bag hooked up. To start.
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"I'll keep watch, Arthur" John assured him. "It'll be okay."
Arthur nodded slightly and tried to relax.
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
Once he was sure the guy was out cold
so far as he could tell, since a second, non-human consciousness wasn't the sort of thing he knew to look for, he got to work on fixing that leg. This was going to take a while.

Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
Those were.... a lot of broken bones though. Ooof. Got them all set eventually, though!
Now it was just a matter of keeping him stable, and making sure he got enough nutrition and fluids.
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
Arthur woke feeling floaty, everything soft around the edges. He felt a soft bed and stiff sheets underneath him, occasional movement and some stranger noises coming from further away.
"John?"
"I'm here, Arthur," John reassured him. "We're in a hospital. They operated on your leg."
Arthur shifted the leg, frowning, and realized it was in a cast, the ache from it present but distant.
"You're on drugs still," John continued. "And I think they said something about fluids."
Ah, that would be the ache in his arm and the cold feeling.
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"Dr. Halstead, actually," Will said. "Who's John?" Was there someone else out there they needed to be worried about?
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"Don't tell him about me, Arthur!" John cautioned.
"John's a friend. Where...mm. Where am I?"
"He's the doctor that operated on you," John informed him. "He looks entirely human, and he seems to be genuinely worried."
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
Though that could also mean absolutely nothing, since Rey sounded British and she was from, you know, outer space.
"... Earth," he added, after a beat.
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"Arthur, ask him how we got here. Ask him why he said Earth."
Arthur couldn't quite focus himself, so he went along with John. "How did we get here? Why did you say Earth?"
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"He's awake? And still not dy-" he stopped himself mid-word. That wasn't a helpful thing to say to a patient, usually. "Awake and improving?" That was better.
"Good," he added, nodding at the patient. "Very good."
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"Another man has entered the room," John informed him. "He also seems human, but there is a mask across half of his face, and there's no telling what it might be hiding. Be careful, Arthur."
"I'm awake," Arthur agreed, slurring. He wondered if there were anything more he should say. "Not dying is good." It was a decided improvement, anyway.
"You should have thought of that before you stabbed yourself," John accused.

Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"Do you need me to stay?" he asked, turning back to Will. "I can."
Re: Exam 1 - For a Severely Injured Stranger
"Mm," Arthur agreed. "Do my best."
