Fandom Clinic, Tuesday

Honestly, sometimes Will felt like half the reason he came in to work these days was to see what the hell was up with the crab.

The answer to which today was he had a sticker affixed to the top left corner of his tank that read "TODAY I FEEL _____" and someone (presumably one of the nurses) had written 'STABBY'.

"Why am I not surprised?" Will asked.

Liz couldn’t believe that a month had passed since her first check up and before her classes later that day, she stopped by the clinic.

She wasn’t as nervous as she had been last time but she was still a bit hesitant as she approached the front desk, “hello?” she said softly.

"Liz, hey," Will greeted with a smile. "Has it been a month already?"

“It has,” Liz smiled, “I can’t believe how quickly it went by,” she admitted.

"Well," Will said. "Let's go take a look at how things are going," and he led her to an exam room.

Defying the laws of physics but fulfilling the Muppet law of "because it's funny", Beaker arrived in the clinic with his hair on fire.

"MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE--"

Why was this even his life?

One of the nurses rushed over with a fire extinguisher.

"I don't think that's-" too late, they were already spraying foam at Beaker. "- safe."

Then again, the guy was made of felt, so who even knew?

"Meep," said the giant mountain of foam, sounding resigned.

"Are you, uh, okay in there?" Will wondered.

"Meep meep meep," said the pile of foam, giving Will a thumbs up.

"Do you need anything?" Will asked. "A towel? ... A band-aid?" Look, with most patients he'd be a lot less cavalier, but he'd seen this guy get all sorts of bent, folded, and spindled during the Wednesday activities. He was pretty sure he was fine under there.

"Meep meep mee?"

Did the band-aid have cartoons on it, Will?

Better, Beaker. It had crabs on it.

Will rummaged through the supply cabinet until he found the box of band-aids, pulling one out. What actual good the band-aid would do he had no idea, considering the guy had entered the clinic on actual fire, but.

"Here you go, buddy."

Beaker was going to use the band-aid as an accessory, putting it right on his nose despite his nose having not been on fire at all.

"Meep!"

Yes, very nice.

Where there might be stabby of the needle variety if necessary.

"So, did you give some thought to whether you'd like to do those tests?" Will asked.

Liz nodded, “I have,” she told him, “I think I’d like to have them done,” she said, “just to be on the safe side,”

"All right," Will nodded. "We'll do your checkup first, then take the samples needed for the tests. You been eating all right?" he asked.

“Okay,” Liz nodded to show she understood and then hesitated at the last question, “I had some difficulty eating last week,” she admitted, “especially the Monday after the reunion,”

"Heard that was a weird one for some," Will said. "I can understand why it might throw you off for a bit. You're doing well now, though? Getting exercise?" He didn't expect her to be running marathons or anything, but hopefully regular walks at least.

“I’m doing better than I was,” Liz said softly, nodding, “I - I’ve been trying to get outside and go for walks when I can, probably not as much as I should be though,” she admitted.

"You should be aiming for about thirty minutes a day," Will advised. "But, you seem to be in good health overall, so don't stress too much if you skip a day or two every once and a while," he added, having completed the ~~handwavey because I am only a fake doctor~~ checkup as they chatted.

Liz nodded, “I think I can manage 30 minutes, some days I do feel like I don’t have much energy but I think that’s from not being able to sleep very well,” she said softly.

Given her history at the clinic, Will could guess it was nightmares- or the possibility thereof- that would be keeping her from sleeping. He nodded. "There are some sleep aids that are safe to take when pregnant if things get really bad," he told her as he began setting up to take samples for the genetic tests. "But you still don't want to take them too often."

“I …” Liz stopped and then started again, “this past week I didn’t sleep a lot at all,” she admitted, “I do try to meditate to try and stay focused and relaxed but sometimes its hard, I … it can be bad if I have a nightmare, with my powers,” she explained, “and with the pregnancy …” her voice trailed off, “I …I don’t know how they will react,”

"I can see how that would be an issue," Will agreed. "I'll get you a list of those sleep aids- they're all over the counter, no prescription necessary."

“It might be helpful to have, just in case,” Liz said softly, “ I know I do have to be careful, considering what happened the last time I couldn't get any sleep,” she definitely didn’t want a repeat of waking up in the clinic again.

"Yes," Will agreed, "Not that I don't mind seeing you," he joked lightly, "but I'd prefer if we kept your visits to the regular checkup kind."

Liz did smile at that, “I will try to limit my visits to just my check ups,” she told him. “I definitely don’t want to faint again,” she added.

"Exactly," he nodded. "I don't want that for you either." And then, because he had what he needed; "Well, I've got everything I need for the tests. We can discuss the results next month. Along with taking our first good look at the little one."

“Okay, next month, thank you,” Liz said, trying not to feel nervous about waiting that long for test results but she did smile at the last part, “that does sound nice, being able to have a look at her,”

"We'll print off a picture too when we do," Will promised. "So you can show her off."

“I do like that idea, I hope Prompto will be here by then,” Liz said with a fond smile, he wouldn’t be but she was still holding on to hope that he would be back soon.

Meanwhile, I'm less stabby more sleepy.
