Fandom Clinic, Monday 8/8

Stark had wandered in to the clinic late today. He'd woken up late, okay? And then...and then still had to stop off for coffee for everyone.

"He's a pirate today?" Stark asked, nodding to Stabby's tank.

"Obviously," a nurse told him, grinning widely. "But Stark. You're late. Where have you been?"

"...Getting coffee," he said, holding out the tray of cups.

"Mmm-hmm," another nurse piped up, glancing up at a wall clock. "So late? And how was the movie?"

The clinic was open, the alien was in and being interrogated, and the crab was feeling pirate-y.

Where the alien is, finally, unless it's paintball time and where the nurses are trying to get gossip.

Sometime that afternoon Steven stopped by. He had two iced coffees with him, one clearly marked with a V. "Hello, Stark! Not busy, are you?"

"Not busy so far, no," Stark said, giving the nearest nurse a bit of a look. "Hello, Steven."

"Hello." Steven came over and held out the unmarked iced coffee. "Brought this for you. There's caramel in it. I know you like sweet."

"I do," Stark said, flashing a quick smile. "Thank you. I appreciate it. It's good of you to remember."

Although Stark's habit of eating and drinking like a very large land-bound hummingbird was difficult to miss.

"Hard not to remember the king of cupcakes likes sweet," Steven said. He had no idea why he felt the need to give Stark that as a nickname in that moment and decided to just keep going in the hopes it wasn't too weird. "I hope it's all right I didn't bring anything for anyone else, only I don't know what they like."

"They'll be fine," Stark said, giving another nurse another look because they really had been ridiculous this morning. "And Stabby there can't have coffee in any case."

A caffeinated and occasionally armed crab was not something this island needed.

"Did you need something today? Or just came to say hello? Either is fine. Just wondering."

Best not to imagine an armed crab undergoing caffeine withdrawal as well.

"The second," Steven said. "It was hot enough I thought of you and your coffees. Plus you've good news besides as well, right? Or I assume good news, based on radio."

"It has been warm. I'm glad paintball has been indoors."

Even though Stark didn't mind the heat so much, running around with paintball guns and trying not to get shot by Anakin would be less fun without a climate controlled environment.

"And...I don't know if I have news..."

"I've been glad the museum is cool as well," Steven said. "Suppose we'll see how it goes come winter. And no? I mean if I'm assuming too much you can tell me. Only if you're seeing someone you fancy I'm happy for you."

"I still haven't stopped by," Stark said a bit apologetically. "I should. And...no. You're not assuming too much. I don't think."

Stark frowned thoughtfully, just a little. "It's just new."

And he was determined he wouldn't be so hurt this time, no matter how things might turn out.

"Good, I think, but new."

"Would you like to chat about it?" Steven asked. "Don't mind listening if you've concerns or just want to go on about how attractive they are."

"I don't know if I have concerns." That was a lie. Stark always had concerns.

"It's just new, as I said. And I haven't had much opportunity for dates. But he is pretty."

Steven moved to take a seat. "So it is Travis then? I know that's what radio said but didn't want to assume. They do leave details out sometimes."

Frequently fortunately, in Steven and Marc's case.

"Travis," Stark confirmed with a nod. "They've gotten that part right." Thankfully with less glitter than in the past.

"He...was there when I stopped being a koala. With Summer." Because more confusing feelings to do with Summer were always needed.

"And he stayed. And then took me to dinner. And then we went to a movie, yesterday."

Steven had a brief moment of wondering if Summer was a koala as well, since come to think of it he hadn't heard her name mentioned on radio of late. But he put that aside to focus on Stark. "That sounds sweet. Like he's being a proper gentleman and all. And two whole dates then. Must be going well?"

"He brought flowers," Stark said quietly, with a tiny smile. That was very gentlemanly. Although not all of his behavior was so proper but Stark wasn't going to get into that right now.

"I think it's going well?" He'd stayed over at the firehouse last night. That was a good sign.

"Flowers? Very nice. Good sign, that," Steven said. He was fond of giving flowers himself - at least until he knew if the recipient liked that sort of thing. So to his way of thinking this proved Travis was a man of good judgement. "You know Marc and I are friends with Nell, over at the flower shop. You never want to return the favor for him I'm sure she'd set you up a treat."

"Nell is in my class," Stark said. "Maybe I ought to buy flowers. Or...a plant, maybe."

He liked plants, after all. He'd just have to make sure it was something that the dog wouldn't eat.

"I'll think of something."

"Still," Steven said. "So many dates in a row. Sounds like it's going well then. Nobody being uncertain about if there's going to be another."

At least Steven assumed that was the case. It'd be very awkward if things hadn't ended on a good note after the movie.

"Only the two," Stark said. But that was two more than he'd ever had with nearly anyone else.

"But they were both good. I think." They'd ended well! Very well, in Stark's opinion. "I'd like to have another. If we can."

"I'm happy for you," Steven said. "You seem, I don't know - lighter? Not that you seemed weighed down before. Bit of a spark, I suppose. Have you known you fancied him long?"

Steven, you can't just tell someone with a glowy face that they seem lighter.

"I...we...sort of?" Stark said, stumbling a bit over his words.
