Honestly, by this point Will thought he was more or less used to coming in to the clinic and finding something new in Stabby's tank. Surely nothing could surprise him anymore, right?

Wrong.

"It's the stabophone," one of the nurses said, clearly expecting Will to get the reference. "You know? Ring ring ring, ring ring ring ring, Stabophone?"

"Cellular, modular, interactivodular?" one of the other nurses tried.

"It's no baloney," chimed in a third.

Will was fairly certain that 'stabophone' was not in the original lyrics, but the nurses were having none of it.

Liz figured that she should really start on her preparations for her pregnancy since talking to Summer yesterday had reminded her of just how much she did have to do to start preparing and now that she had told people she was pregnant (and was still unaware that now included everyone who at least listened to radio on a regular basis) that she would make a stop by the clinic to let them know as well.

“Um hello?” she said awkwardly trying to not feel nervous despite the fact that she hadn’t been a patient since January and had only stopped by to pick up her prescriptions since then.

Hey, at least Liz wasn't alone; plenty of visitors to the clinic felt nervous and awkward about being there. Of course, usually it was because they'd done something stupid like get a Lego stuck up their nose.

"Hey," Will greeted. "Liz, isn't it?" Small island, and she had been here a couple times before.

Liz nodded, “it’s Liz,” she said, hesitating as she tried to consider how best to describe her situation and why she was at the clinic, as well as her main concern with how her powers were going to react to said situation as well, “um…I’m …I’m pregnant, ,” she finally stammered after a while, “um…I’m eight weeks,” she added.

"Right, okay," Will nodded. "First pre-natal checkup, then?" There was nothing on the schedule about that, but then... there was usually nothing on the schedule. Small town. A walk-up appointment was no problem. "Come on, we'll get you set up in one of the exam rooms."

Did someone ask for two shirtless firefighters bringing in a bloody guy? Too bad, you were getting it anyway.

"Multiple bites, unknown origin," Eddie supplied. "Fell through a... portal?"

Yeah, that word was still feeling weird to say.

Wait, an actual emergency?

Will jumped up from behind the desk. "Exam one, come on," he gestured for Buck and Eddie to follow him to a new thread.

Were it not for the actual emergency part, the shirtless thing may have given him pause, yes. But for now he was all business.

Exam One

Will directed Buck and Eddie to get bloody guy set up on a cot. "Good job stopping the bleeding," he noted, though once they got the guy stabilized they'd want to swap those out for something a little more sterile.

"Next time we go out looking for trouble, we need to bring a first aid kit," Buck said, looking at Eddie. "But guy coming out of a wet hole in the ground possibly from hell wasn't on the bingo card today."

"Or ever, really," Eddie said, hovering a little to keep an eye on the patient. "No trauma to the neck or spine that could be found in the field. Said something about a concert?"

He looked at Buck to confirm that one.

"Yeah," Buck said with a nod. "And in high school, apparently."

Again, world's oldest high schooler.

Will nodded. He trusted Eddie's assessment but did a c-spine check in the name of being thorough. Once he was confident that the bites- whatever they were- were the main issue, he set about carefully unwrapping Buck and Eddie's impromptu bandages, washing out the wounds, and replacing them with sterile wraps.

"If you two want to help, you can," he said. "Otherwise I can get a nurse in here." He sort of had a feeling which option they'd take.

"Where do you need me?" Eddie asked immediately. Because look at him being useful! It was wonderful.

“Suturing these wounds is risky without knowing what caused them,” Will explained. “We don’t want infection to set in. So, we’re going to wash them out with saline and wrap them back up with this,” he handed Eddie a roll of bandages.

Eddie--the other Eddie--the bleeding one, was slowly starting to come to. Wait. This wasn't the beach. Or the Upside Down. And-- "Why is everyone naked?"

Only 2 of the 3 guys were naked, don't be dramatic, Eddie.

Exam Two

Will led Liz over to one of the exam rooms.

"So, a baby, huh? That's exciting." He hoped it was exciting, anyway.

Liz nodded, trying to not feel so nervous, “I’m, I’m having a girl,” she told him, “um …she’s Prompto’s,” and there was another pause, “I don’t know when he’s coming back,” she said softly.

"Prompto..." Will frowned, trying to recall who that was. "The guy who was with you last time you were here? Where'd he go?" They'd seemed pretty tight when she was here last, but Will knew all too well how fast relationships could change.

“He brought me to the clinic when I fainted,” Liz nodded, “he - he had to go back home,” she said quietly, “and his city was attacked and communication has been really difficult, I - I haven’t been able to tell him that I’m pregnant,”

"I'm sorry," Will said. "That sounds really rough." Massive understatement, that.

Liz nodded, “it’s … it’s taken a while to process everything, I didn’t think it would be so soon …” she bit her lip, “I really thought I’d be married before I started having a family,” no Liz had not listened to that morning’s radio, she might have been just a bit mortified, “and I don’t know how my powers are going to go with my pregnancy,” she admitted.

"Powers?" echoed Will. He came from a distressingly normal world, comparatively, but at least had been in Fandom long enough that he could say that with simple curiosity and not disbelief.
