Fandom Clinic | Thursday

Elli hadn't really planned on stopping by the clinic today, since her shift was tomorrow and she had some reading she wanted to get done before she showed up to beset the nurses with all the questions.

But then there had been pigeons. In class. And Wayne had fared badly and she just couldn't let that go untreated.

So the clinic it was.

Luckily, Wayne had the great good sense to not argue with her about it—having admitted that, even if she hadn't been in class to insist, that he'd have headed for the clinic.

"We'll use exam room one," she said, as they entered the clinic. "It should be free."

The clinic wasn't usually too busy, which Elli approved of as a healthy population was a good thing.

[For the modded-with-permission-Wayne first, but open after!]

And even though Elli had looked, Wayne might have just taken an extra look himself for any hidden pigeons. They weren't exactly known for being crafty, but the wildlife around here did tend to lean that way.

Once convinced there would be no surprise pigeons, he lumbered over to the bed, sat down on it heavily, and grunted a consent of sorts.

He was feeling a little lightheaded, actually. He had probably severely miscalculated the idea that powering through a pigeon attack was about the same as powering through a dairy attack.

When it came to injuries, at least, Wayne was probably not going to be doing his sex any favors in that regard.

"I think there was one on my back," he said, his shoulders shifting and squaring as if to feel for any damage, "that might've gotten through the flannel."

This was one of his favorites, too. He might have been upset about it if it weren't for the fact that he had at least three more exactly like it.
howareyanow: (not so sure about that)

Especially not mystically occurring, possibly infected pigeon pecks.

But by the time Elli had asked, Wayne had already methodically unbuttoned one of his buttons to loosen it, followed by unbuttoning the cuffs, and then he pulled it over his head, exposing him to that chilly blast of air that seemed inevitable no matter how warm a clinic room was kept.

There were somehow more pecks on his pecs.

That's how bad he failed at pigeons.

"...'Kay," said Wayne, with the inflection of someone who had every intention of pretty much just sitting there like a lump while Elli did her thing, while also building up for the fact that he was not entirely confident in his ability to keep sitting there like a lump once the treating started and it was going to sting a bit, wasn't it? But he was the toughest guy in Letterkenny, he couldn't just sit there like a lump and let a few bird scratches sting a bit!

Ohhh, Wayne could hold still. Wayne could hold as still as a Mennonite barn right after the raising, even during a windstorm.

Except for the tiniest intake of breath, followed by a considerable fluttering of his eyelashes, because he could take a straight pinch right to the nose from a up-country degen twice his own size and still be able to write home about it, but oh fuck, did that sting.

Like a tiny million little bees all up there at once.

"Couldn't hurt."

Unlike this. But the conversation was going to be a nice distraction, so Elli was getting oints for that.

"I don't see why," said Wayne, who could now latch onto something that almost hurt more than the anticeptic, "we can't just go back to puppies. We shoulda just stuck with puppies."

Wayne just really liked puppies. Cats were okay, but pigeons was going a step too far.

There didn't even seem to be that many pigeons! The amount of wounds that Wayne had sustained were astounding in that respect.

But now he was talking about puppers, so he was almost forgetting there were any injuries at all.

Until Elli got to the disinfecting again, at any rate.

"Ohhh, s'hard to pick jus' one," he said. "But we breed German shepherds back on the farm, and I got a soft spot fer bulls."
