Fandom Clinic | Thursday
Elli hadn't really planned on stopping by the clinic today, since her shift was tomorrow and she had some reading she wanted to get done before she showed up to beset the nurses with all the questions.
But then there had been pigeons. In class. And Wayne had fared badly and she just couldn't let that go untreated.
So the clinic it was.
Luckily, Wayne had the great good sense to not argue with her about it—having admitted that, even if she hadn't been in class to insist, that he'd have headed for the clinic.
"We'll use exam room one," she said, as they entered the clinic. "It should be free."
The clinic wasn't usually too busy, which Elli approved of as a healthy population was a good thing.
[For the modded-with-permission-Wayne first, but open after!]

Exam Room 1 - Wayne
"Here we are," she said briskly, moving to wash her hands. "Take a seat on the bed."
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
Once convinced there would be no surprise pigeons, he lumbered over to the bed, sat down on it heavily, and grunted a consent of sorts.
He was feeling a little lightheaded, actually. He had probably severely miscalculated the idea that powering through a pigeon attack was about the same as powering through a dairy attack.
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
Elli was maaaybe a bit old-fashioned and a touch sexist in that particular regard.
But boys kept proving her right about it! What was a girl to do?
"Just your hands and face?" she asked, glancing at him speculatively. "Or did they get your arms through your shirt? Any other injuries?"
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
"I think there was one on my back," he said, his shoulders shifting and squaring as if to feel for any damage, "that might've gotten through the flannel."
This was one of his favorites, too. He might have been upset about it if it weren't for the fact that he had at least three more exactly like it.
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
This was work, after all, and there was nothing appealing about injuries.
"Do you need help?" she asked, even as she pulled on a pair of gloves and got out her supplies.
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
But by the time Elli had asked, Wayne had already methodically unbuttoned one of his buttons to loosen it, followed by unbuttoning the cuffs, and then he pulled it over his head, exposing him to that chilly blast of air that seemed inevitable no matter how warm a clinic room was kept.
There were somehow more pecks on his pecs.
That's how bad he failed at pigeons.
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
Though, obviously, the injuries were due to the Danger Shop glitching or something!
Elli silently surveyed the injuries.
"Let's start with your ears," she said, though if he wanted her to start elsewhere, she would.

Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
She had antispetic wipes and she was going to use them and... yeah, it was going to sting a bunch.
"Hold still," she said, all business as she got to work on cleaning the ear that looked the worst off.
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
Except for the tiniest intake of breath, followed by a considerable fluttering of his eyelashes, because he could take a straight pinch right to the nose from a up-country degen twice his own size and still be able to write home about it, but oh fuck, did that sting.
Like a tiny million little bees all up there at once.
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
She'd be sorry, Wayne, but she was busy cleaning blood out of your ears with careful precision.
"I wonder what we'll have next week," she offered. "Maybe I should bring a first aid kit?"
To the Danger Shop. More inexplicable injuries?
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
Unlike this. But the conversation was going to be a nice distraction, so Elli was getting oints for that.
"I don't see why," said Wayne, who could now latch onto something that almost hurt more than the anticeptic, "we can't just go back to puppies. We shoulda just stuck with puppies."
Wayne just really liked puppies. Cats were okay, but pigeons was going a step too far.
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
Then she'd be moving onto the other ear so they were going to be here a while.
"What's your favourite kind of dog?"
Re: Exam Room 1 - Wayne
But now he was talking about puppers, so he was almost forgetting there were any injuries at all.
Until Elli got to the disinfecting again, at any rate.
"Ohhh, s'hard to pick jus' one," he said. "But we breed German shepherds back on the farm, and I got a soft spot fer bulls."
