FTEC, Sunday [8/8]

Ellie had been at the clinic since yesterday. The entire time, really. She was there mostly in case extra medical staff was needed, considering the latest craziness. It had been a petty restless few days, too. She had been too anxious with worry about everyone who was missing, especially her brother.

The clinic, at least, kept her somewhat distracted.

She hadn't lied and Beka drew in a breath, but stayed still. "What's his name?" she asked. "Mayhap I've seen him, but I don't know a lot of the people's names."

"Chuck...Bartowski?" Ellie said, making sure to clarify. "He's tall, kinda lanky, has curlyish hair?"

Once she bandaged up the arm wound, she inspected the one on her shoulder. This wound was deeper than the other, and Ellie wasn't sure she was trained for this.

Beka was grateful that she did have an answer and she smiled a little with a tiny nod. "He was with our group," she assured Ellie. "He came through with us. I do not know if he was injured, but he made it back here."

Ellie breathed a sigh of relief, even if there was the chance he could be injured. She was going to find him as soon as she was done here. "Thank you. For letting me know."

Inspecting the wound further, she determined it would need to be looked at by a medically trained doctor. "I think I'm going to have Dr. Jones take a look at this. It may need stitches."

"Don't worry. She's very good at what she does," Ellie assured, before leaving to go find Martha.

"I'm glad I could answer," Beka admitted and nodded as Ellie left. "Thank you."

Pounce sneered at the comment and she scratched him behind the ear. "It'll do well enough."

After speaking with Ellie, Martha went into the exam room and gave Beka a smile. "Hi there. I hear you got a big banged up? How are you feeling?"

"As if I could sleep for a week," Beka admitted, returning the smile with a tired version of her own. The rush of the fighting was gone now, making her wanting to sag down on the bed and sleep.

"Well, I'll try to be quick so you can get to sleeping," Martha offered, taking a look at Beka's shoulder. "God, what were you fighting?"

"I did not care to find out," she admitted. "If they were human, they did not care much about introductions."

"I assume they've been taken care of?" Martha asked, getting out ointment and more supplies for stitches. She figured it was always safer to assume the students had won, if they'd bothered to come to the clinic.

"Yes," Beka nodded, not that it made her feel much better. She was a Dog, she cracked skulls and broke arms. Killing sommat that'd seemed almost human let a bad after taste in her mouth.

"I believe everyone made it back. Some in need of a healer, but we got back."

"I'm very glad. This place wouldn't be what it is if everyone weren't here," Martha said, putting a little of the medicine on Beka's wounds to help with the burning. "This is probably going to sting a little, but I'll try to make as few stitches as I need."

Stitches, Pounce yowled, sitting up on Beka's lap and this time he let his comment be heard. Is that the best you've got?

Beka closed her eyes, hiding the grimace at the sting. "Don't be rude. I'm sorry," she said to Martha.

Martha stared a little at the cat, like she wasn't sure if that was really where the comment had come from. "It's all right," she said to Beka, having had this conversation before - granted, with people, not pets. "I know it's a bit primitive if you're from somewhere more advanced, but yes, it's the best I've got."

He was not a pet, he was the Cat, thank you very much. He turned his nose up at the reply and settled back down on Beka's lap.

"My world has magic healers," she explained. "Tis easier, but I'm certain this will do as well."

"Trust me, if I could do magic, I would instead," Martha said, putting the stitches in as quickly and cleanly as she could. "Or I'd get people to start bringing whatever medical stuff they use at home here. We could certainly use some advancements here."

"I've an ointment my mom used to make, it helps with sore muscles. Tis the best salve I have," she said, distracting herself from what Martha was doing. "I'm no good making them myself. I should have thought of bringing more with me."

"I'm always amazed by the different salves and medicines people bring with them. I've been to a lot of places, but I still haven't seen everything out there." Martha finished up and gave Beka a smile. "There you are, all patched up. You'll have to come back in a few days to get them taken out, but that'll only take a minute and won't be nearly as uncomfortable."

Pounce sneered, which was impressive and didn't sound much like a cat at all.

"Thank you," Beka said, eyeing the bandages for a moment. "Mayhap if I go back for a visit, I'll try to bring some salves with."

"I'd love to see one if you do. If you're in a great deal of pain, I can give you some medicine to help you sleep tonight," Martha offered.

She bit her lip, loathing the admission, but if the restless night she'd spent in the hotel was any indication... She nodded. "Thank you."

"Just for tonight," Martha said. She understood the weak feeling that came with admitting the need for outside help. She stepped out for a minute, and came back with a small, clear envelope with two white pills in it. "Get some rest tonight, no matter how much you might want to celebrate. If you feel worse, come back and get yourself checked out, all right?"

"I'll save celebrating until next week," Beka assured her, nudging Pounce off her lap so she could stand. "Thank you for your help."
