FTEC, Tuesday [02/02]

Martha hated coming into the clinic and finding patients already there, especially when they weren't there for something minor. She split her time between the inventory check she'd been planning, and checking on Raven to see if she was getting any better.

The bite on her neck had been healed, and Raven had remained unconscious throughout the night, sleeping restlessly.

Joan had spent the night dozing fitfully in a chair next to Raven's bed.

"What happened?" Anakin demanded, voice low but insistent as he came into the room.

For just a second, his mind brought forth memories of Rory lying in here after her run-in with Angelus.

"I don't know," Joan said, rubbing her eyes. "I found her last night, stumbling along the sidewalks and bleeding."

She hesitated before continuing. "It looked like a vampire bite."

Raven finally began to stir now that she was done with the frakking flowers. Her eyelids fluttered then opened, and she looked around the room, confused. "Where am I?" she said, forcing the words from a dry throat.

"You're in the clinic," Joan said, putting her hand on Raven's arm to hopefully keep her calm. "You got hurt last night."

"What happened?" Raven said. Her memory was still foggy from the deep healing sleep she'd been in, but already she was lifting one hand to touch her neck.

Andy had handwavily stopped by the night before after radio, but had left when he found himself on the verge of suggesting to the clinic staff that they make Raven wake up and be okay right that minute. Demanding the impossible wasn't going to do anyone any good and he had scared himself a little with the impulse.

But it was the morning now and he was back, determined to stay until he was sure Raven was okay.

Raven had been drifting in and out of sleep, still tired from the loss of blood. She smiled when she opened her eyes and saw Andy there. "Andy," she said, reaching out a hand to him.

"Tired," Raven said, squeezing his hand. "Did Joan tell you I was here?"

Andy shook his head. "The squirrels did. I was doing radio when they brought in the report."

Karla stopped by as soon as classes were over. If she was late to rehearsals, well, whatever.

"Raven?" she called softly, sending a small thread of peace and safety Raven's way. "It's Karla."

Raven lifted her head at Karla's voice. "Karla," she said, giving her friend a smile. "Come in; it is all right."

Karla didn't need another invitation; she slipped inside and over to Raven's side. "How you doing?" she asked quietly. "Can I get you anything?"

In a moment, she'd be grilling Raven like crazy to find out what happened, but first she needed to make sure she really was okay.

"Water, please?" Raven asked hopefully. The glass beside her bed was empty, and her throat was still dry.

"Not a problem." Karla filled the glass from the nearby pitcher, then brought it over to Raven to drink. "I'll refill both before I leave," she promised. "I also bought you a salad if you're hungry and the doctors say you can eat. It's pretty spinach-heavy, but the radio suggested you might be...a little anemic."

Aphrodite had never spent much time in clinics or hospitals. The few she had spent time in were small ones she set up in some of her temples long, long ago.

This, plus the reason she was here, had her somewhat subdued as she tapped on the door to Raven's room.

"Raven? Are you awake?" The words were almost a whisper.

Raven wasn't sleeping, just trying to meditate, and her eyes opened at 'Dite's voice. "Lady Aphrodite," she said, trying to sit up. "It is all right, you may come in."

She padded her way slowly into the room, offering a soft smile to Raven. "Hiya, Sweet Pea. This is for you." Holding out a hand 'Dite produced a small teddy bear that held a chocolate kiss. "How're you doing?"

Raven took the teddy bear and clutched it against her chest. "Thank you," she said softly. "I am sorry I could not come to work today."

Priorities, Raven.

"Oh, no, Raven. It's fine. I wouldn't have expected you to, not after something like this." Seeing the chair beside the bed, she motioned toward it. "May I?"
