FTEC -- Saturday [September 26]

It was the sort of day where Ino didn't just didn't want to do anything. Totally in a funk, even if her mood was pretty decent, and studying seemed to be just so very entirely dull.

Dull or not, though, that didn't mean she could just ditch it. Muttering to herself about work ethic and how having one sucked, Ino did her best to focus on her scrolls.

And, okay, maybe her hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was totally important.

Leda had spent much of the day seeking out her friend. Funny she'd find her in the clinic.

"Amy, here you are."

She glanced up from her work, glad enough for a distraction. "Here I am," she said, a bit amused. "Hey. What's up?"

"Well I wanted to apologize for missing your party."

"Don't worry about it," she said, brushing her hair from her face and sticking with a fairly simple answer. "It wasn't, like, a big deal, you know?"

"Well I'm sorry anyway. But, happy birthday." She held out a wrapped present.

Her smile gentled slightly as she reached for it.

"Thank you," Ino said, touched. "You didn't have to."

"Well we don't give presents cause we have to." Leda grinned. "Unless your mother guilts you into it.

The gift was a DVD, a movie about a mercenary who lived by the code of the Samurai. Leda hadn't seen it but the trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpf0NFVLEn8) had seemed really cool.

"My mother wouldn't have to," she admitted, opening the present with a fair bit of cheer.

What? Presents were awesome.

"Ooooh," she said, flipping the case over to read the back. "This sounds neat."

"I hope you like it. It seemed kinda, you know, warrior friendly."

"You think I'm a warrior?" she teased, looking up. "Guess it must be my attitude."

"I thought it was a safe guess yeah. I think it's part of your charm."

She snickered at that. "I've got charm, huh? From being in-your-face?"

"I consider that charming, yes. I've known way too many people who weren't up front about where they stood. I still don't know if I could trust all of my friends back home."

"Why can't you maybe not trust them?" she asked, leaning back in her chair. "And yeah, that makes sense, I guess. If that's the case."

Ino didn't really believe in censoring her opinion most of the time.

"Well, as per example, I had two friends, and one of them may have burned down the building I used to live in."

Ino contemplated that.

...

"...why?"

"Well if it was Mooner it's because we voted against him turning it into a dance club. Though it probably would have had more to do with thinking we'd all turned against him or something. If it was Just Ron...I have no clue."

"...I am so confused," Ino said, blinking.

"You're not alone. But back in Bordertown I used to run this gang called the Strange Pupae with my friends Mooner and Wiseguy. Well things between me and Mooner went a bit south, and eventually he kind of tried to take over with this Dance Club idea. But we voted against it and he kind of flipped out. Or...so Wiseguy told me. I was uhm, kinda out of it that night."

Her eyebrows inched up.

"Out of it?"

"Uhm...yeah. The reason I wasn't at your party, was cause I was here. I got sick cause of some stuff I used to drink."

More of the eyebrow thing happening.

"Used to drink?"

"I quit a while ago and I was going through withdrawal."

Ino made a bit of a face at that.

Addictions were--bad. She was not a fan.

"Mmm," she said noncommittally. It was a baby form of tact, really. "I'm glad you're feeling better, then."

Ino wasn't wrong. Hence the quitting. "Me too."

If they're needed.

With the nurses.
