FTEC – Saturday [October 25]

It was a very sleepy Ino that wandered into the clinic for her day shift and clinging to an extra-large hot chocolate for dear life. Sure, she could’ve gotten coffee, but hot chocolate tasted better, come on.

And, eventually, it would wake her up enough that she could study.

...and eye the door dubiously. Dad had said he’d be visiting her, after all. She could only hope that there wouldn’t be any actual injuries that needed to be tended to. It was going to be a long day. Seriously.

Whistling oh-so-chalantly, Isshin drifted into the clinic. He took a glance around the place, trying to make it seem like he was visiting for merely professional reasons, one good look at one clinic in reference to the one he owned and operated back in Karakura, when, really, his interest was entirely for the blonde behind the desk in which his attention finally shifted to.

"Why, hello, there, little lady!" he remarked, as if surprised to see her there. "How are you?"

It should be noted that Kurosaki Isshin was not noted for his ability to appear nonchalant.

Ever.

"Oh, I was just having a little looksie, you see," Isshin said, gesturing grandly to the clinic around him. "I own a clinic back home, you see, and wanted to make some comparison no-SAY!"

Isshin also failed at subtle transitions. "You look kind of familiar!"

"I know where I know you from!" Isshin, brusquely ignoring the girl's offer, declared his ephinany with gusto, finger jabbing the air, and then it swooped to point at the girl and a smirk came to his face. "You're the girl who was flirting with my son at the picnic!"

"Just keeping an eye on him!" Isshin responded, brightly, before, leaning in toward the girl, he asked, "So, have you made a man out of my son yet?"

"Perhaps not," Isshin could be agreeable enough, at times. "But it looks like you're barely a stranger to Ichigo, and, as his father, it's my duty to know these sorts of things, little lady."

"...Is that a yes, then?" Isshin asked, with no small amount of excitement. "Whoo! Ichigo! I've never been so proud of my boy before!" He even gave a dramatic little sniff, wiping a tear from his eye.

"Oh, you know how he is," Isshin waved his hands dismissively a few times. "Such a prude! I can't get anything out of him, except for punches and mean words."

Again, with the poor, poor sniffing. If only his little Yuzu were here to tend to his broken soul.

"Are you the wrong girl?" Isshin asked, pointedly, trying his very hardest not to smirk.

He was much better at not smirking than he was anything else so far.

"But you weren't, were you?" Isshin said, waggling a finger at Ino; he shook his head and clucked his tongue. "Fiesty and smart! I would have never expected that son of mine to have such good taste!"

Isshun's shoulders sagged for a moment, but then he lifted his hands again, wringing them in the air with frustration. "What is wrong with that boy? Just friends! Just friends! All these cute girls and they're just friends!"

His hand met his forehead in a gesture of distress.

"I'll never be a grandfather!"

"You seemed a little beyond just friends yesterday!" Isshin remarked, not ready to let this one go quite yet. "And! And you work in a clinic! Clearly, it's destiny!"

"That reminds me," Isshin said, grumbling mostly to himself with a thoughtful hand to his chin, "is Ichigo working anywhere here? That lazy bum! I bet he isn't!"

"Disgraceful! Now that he's all the way over here he thinks he can just shirk his responsibilities! Never writes to his poor dad and just flirts with girls to no real results. What a depressing day for a Kurosaki!"

"His reaction time is getting slow!" Isshin observed. "But we'll see about that...."

His eyes narrowed slightly, and then, suddenly, he was back to his wild gesticulating.

"Just remember! These are the prime years of your youth! You will never be this young and precocious again! It should not go to waste!"
