FTEC, Thursday [10/16]

Simon was going through a number of recently published medical journals, occasionally making comments in the margins where objectionable conclusions had been drawn. Appearantly last weekend had been busy for some people - he had learnt that listening to the radio was useful - but his week had been quiet. That wasn't quite as good as it sounded as it gave him too much time to think. He was starting to miss Serenity.

A very large man in armour came into the clinic, holding a very oddly coloured hamster in his hand, his face wrinkled with concern. "Excuse me, sir," Minsc said. "Can you help me? My hamster...he looks a little green."

Simon was about to say that he was not qualified to treat animals, but the concern on the man's face made him change his mind. He looked at the hamster. "Has he been eating anything unsuitable?" he asked.

Other than ice cream?

Minsc looked down at his very, very green hamster. "Not that I know of. He's a very clever hamster, though, so he might be sneaking himself some midnight snacks."

"Has there been vomiting?" He offered an examination tray, so that he could inspect the hamster.

He knew nothing of hamsters.

Minsc eyed the tray, extremely reluctant to give Boo up.

The tray was going to remain empty at the moment. He was torn between his attachment and his worry for Boo, but he wasn't going to let him on that tray and out of his hands unless he was absolutely sure there was a problem.

Maybe he should have gone to the church rather than the clinic. It could just be a curse, nothing a little remove curse spell couldn't fix.

"No, no vomitting. Just...discoloration."

"Um." Simon thought for a moment. "Any other symptoms? Signs of pain? Drowsiness?"

[I will have to disappear now, woe. SP?

Minsc considered this carefully.

"I think he did sneeze this morning coming out from underneath the couch."

"That might have been because of the dust," Simon replied. "If there are no other symptoms all I can suggest is waiting." This was a hamster after all. Not a human.

Minsc hadn't considered this before, and considered it now.

"How long," he asked, because it was important, "do you suggest waiting?"

"If he's not better tomorrow, bring him in again." There was a pause. "Unless you want to leave him overnight."

With that look on Minsc's face, one might almost think that the doctor had suggested feeding poor Boo to gnolls.

"Waiting sounds quite alright," he said, a bit stiffly. "Thank you."

Simon smiled a little. "Try not to worry," he suggested.

He's still around!
