FTEC -- August 17 -- Sunday.

Well, she was no longer a bird. That was a good thing, Adah supposed, if it weren't for the fact that it was all terribly disorientating, this switching between different bodies with different balance points, not to mention the change in height and having to reacquaint herself with the possession of opposable thumbs, which, really, she'd never realized how much she'd taken them for granted.

But she was still mad, still irritated, since the only thing she was able to do to let the Eel know she was incredibly annoyed with him was peck at him.

And, in the long run, that was a whole week wasted on being a bird when she should have been using it to get the most out of being here before she had to leave.

Soon. Too soon, way too damn soon, which was why she made sure to come into the clinic that afternoon. Her classes started at Emory next week, so this might actually be her last shift. Her stomach clenched with both nervousness and excitement; she felt a little sick, but she wasn't sure if that had to do with the fact that it seemed to rush in quicker than the current of flooding waters after the rainy season or if it was just that she'd eaten way too many grubs last week.

So, the lack of raven pecking around him meant one of two things: 1) she'd gotten tired of him and hopped off or 2) she was back to human shaped and had walked off.

Lee hadn't seen anyone around swatting at a pecking bird so he guessed the second and checked her cabin first. No go there so now he was in the second most likely place.

Okay, so, she was human and looked okay and maybe he could make this a nice, pleasant visit.

[Still at work for awhile longer but wanted to ping in while I remembered.]

"I was here one day," he answered, making a face. "It wasn't like a second home or anything. Good to see you back in regular form."

"I'm completely fine," he answered, nodding. "I got used to all the pecking after awhile. It was almost comforting to wake up to pecks between my eyes. So, yes, I'm fine. And I'm glad you're back. The pecking might be nice to lose."

He winced and said, "Whatever you say. I don't think it was stupid of me, it was a long time coming but you know, if you think I was stupid, you're not the only one."

"No, somehow, people telling me that I'm stupid all the time gets really old when that's all they focus on," Lee replied.

"So, I give you nothing else to focus on besides the fact that I'm stupid?" Lee asked. "All this time?"

"All right." He rubbed his head and then took a breath. "I didn't think it would and I wasn't asking you to forget what happened. Do you wanna know what happened?"

"Yeah, well, the reason it happened was a good one," he said. "And it probably needed to happen. I didn't think you'd find out on the radio. That was bad. But, I was fine. Am fine. Nothing permanently hurt."

"Yes, I am a lucky, stupid, idiotic son of a bitch," he said. "I've heard it enough from people since it happened. I don't know what you want me to do. You don't want to know what happened so I'm not going to tell you. I'm sorry it happened when it did. It was bad timing. Horrible timing."

"Yes, that's exactly it," he said sarcastically. "As soon as you leave, it's all drinking and fighting for me. Chicks dig scars and all that, right? Why not? Who cares, not me?"

"I knew you'd react like this," he admitted, shrugging. "But, what I did, I did it for a few reasons. I thought it'd solve something. Maybe it didn't, maybe it did. But, I really didn't have time to tell you."
