When Ronan came in for his shift Friday morning, he was rather surprised to see a patient -- it happened so rarely (outside of the larger invasions, of course), that he wasn't much used to it.

[OOC: I've got some errands to run before work, and then, well, work until at least 9PM Eastern, probably more like 10 or so. SP is love!]

"Would you rather I'd gone back to my room?" he asked, frowning as best he could. "Or just stayed on the beach where I passed out?"

"I'd rather you don't be an idiot and pick fights with a girl who is going to physically remove your head soon at the rate you're going." Kerrigan wasn't rolling her eyes mostly on the basis that she needed them to glare at him.

"Yeah, because I'm totally fault here," he said, shaking his head.

There was only one answer that one deserved.

She reached over to thump him on the head. Injuries be damned.

"Oh, frak!" He tried to bat her hand away and then glared at her. "What the hell? What the frakking hell?"

"Fifty-fifty in an argument," she said, like talking to her child, and withdrew her hand on her own violition. "You were an ass." It wasn't even a question.

Neither was she certain, but it was Lee. She didn't have to be.

"Hey, I'm all right, thanks for asking," he snapped.

"And I'm trying to make sure you stay that way," she snapped back.

"By hitting me?" he asked, frowning. "You got a funny way of showing it. But you don't have to. Wouldn't wanna waste your time, after all."

And now she was thumping herself on the forehead. "Adama," Kerrigan replied, "Will you stop feeling sorry for yourself for one damn minute?"

"I'm not," he said, just resisting the urge to pull the covers up over his head. "I feel fine."

"And you're accusing me of accusing you of wasting my time when I'm using said time to make sure you don't get your head kicked in," Kerrigan said, rolling her eyes. "Your logic can use some work, kid."

"You told me I was wasting your time earlier this week," he snapped. "It's not an accusation."

"You were being a jackass at the time," she shot back.

...Why was she having this argument with a student? "Next time, consider the turtle approach."

"Next time, I'll fight back," he said.

"Next time, you'll die horribly," she replied. "Contrary to what you might think, I'd rather have you in one piece."

"Contrary to what you believe, I doubt there'll be a next time," he said. "Maybe she got it out of her frakking system. She beat me up, she got her revenge for whatever the hell I did. It's done."

She breathed out a harsh breath she both hadn't realised she'd been holding and hadn't realised had been quite that-- harsh. "Not again, Lee."

"What?" he asked. "It's what she wanted."

"River wants a lot of things," she said, settling her breathing down, her expression slipping away behind the Ghost mask she'd perfected a long time ago. "A lot of them, she deserves. This one, not so much."

"You could have fooled me," he said. "She seemed to want it yesterday."

"Adama, I've been in your head." Kerrigan snorted. "If you got everything you wanted, I feel sorry for your dad. Don't do anything stupid. I need to talk to River."

"I told you I'm frakking done with that," he snapped harshly. "I let her kick the shit out of me. That's it, the end."

"And now it's a noble sacrifice," she said, narrowing her eyes. "Get your act together, Adama. You can do better than that."

"I don't know what you want from me," he said tiredly. "It's all cryptic stuff with the both of you."
