FTEC - Saturday evening shift [5.06]

Igor was searching the clinic. He'd brought Scraps with him, and the dog was busily sniffing his way around the waiting area and the various exam rooms.

One would almost think Igor had lost something.

The search continued.

On her way out, Adah eyed the sniffing scrap of a dog.

"This doesn't bode well," she commented.

Igor trying to look innocent was just frightening. "The machine is working," he said as he pretended he'd never been looking for escaped hybrids. "In one direction at least. The swap back still needs some work."

"That's sort of an important part of the process, isn't it?" Adah asked, still watching Scraps sniffing around the lobby. She was certain that there hadn't been any strange chemical spills or anything of the sort during her own shift, so there had to be something else that might have gotten the dog's attention to leave him on such a determined hunt. Her head tilted thoughtfully as she also considered Igor's information. "Did you need any help figuring it out? Maybe a second party perspective?"

"A second set of eyes would be a help," he agreed, and grinned. "And I just don't have the room to add them to myself. It's set up at the warehouse, if you want to stop in and have a look."

"Oh, I can't believe that," Adah said, grinning lightly back. "If you tried hard enough, I'm sure you could find a spot or two. It's not the eyes you need, anyway, it's the brain. Eyes can look without seeing, after all. But, yes, I'll try to stop by. I'll bring Pride. He owes me."

For what, Adah wasn't sure. She'd think of something. Once she finished thinking about what Scraps was looking for; she concluded her words with a curious glance toward Igor, hoping he might wish to illuminate her on the subject a little more, or if he'd be as evasive as he was when she brought it up a moment ago.

He clucked and Scraps came trotting over happily. "If you happened to see a small furry creature with wings, and you happened to catch it, you could bring it by the workshop."

"Is that what he's looking for?"

"Possibly, possibly," Igor replied evasively.

Adah's good eyebrow lifted, and she certainly hoped that Igor didn't truly believe that she believed him. "I'll keep my eye out," she told him, nodding slightly.

Igor had no illusions whatsoever that Adah believed him, but she was humouring him and, being incredibly embarrassed to have lost an experiment, he was grateful for it. "For which I you have my thanks," he said. "You shouldn't have any problems recognising it."

Scraps was quartering the room.

Yay I remembered!
