The doctor is in.

She'd this before. Not this exact thing, of course, but something similar, not too long ago, in the office of one Dr. Holden Remile, on a day that couldn't be more dissimilar than this one. At least the front desk in the clinic wasn't nearly as immense. Adah limped up to it and opened her mouth, waiting sentences that she hoped would arrive.

"I need to start working at your clinic, sir. I need to start working soon, and, hopefully, start working often."

Christian looked the girl over. "You need to?" he asked. "What kind of medical training do you have? Or do you" -- he waved his hand in the air -- "use some kind of mojo?"

"Need to," Adah repeated, with a nod that would have been firm if it hadn't have jerked sharply to the left on the uprise. It was important, though. Very important. She should have done this last semester, but adjustment came first. "I have not had any medical training, but I've done a lot of studying and I'm an exceptionally fast learner."

Maybe he wouldn't even ask about the physical restrictions; if he wasn't, she wasn't going to bring it up, either.

Her limp and head jerk hadn't gone unnoticed. "Why do you need to?" Christian asked. "And do you have some sort of physical disability that would prevent you from tending to a patient?" He really didn't sugarcoat it at all.

"I need to," Adah explained, carefully going over what she'd been rehearsing in her head and just hoping that her brain was going to cooperate in repeating them in the proper way, "because in less than half a year I'm going to graduate and I'm going to need to go to medical school, during a time where the whole idea of a woman going to college is progressive, much less medical school, much less a woman with a disability, with very little money, in a Southern university. My knowledge will only get me so far; experience will help me exponentially. And, yes, I have a disability. Hemipheglia, to be exact, a significant paralysis in my right side due to the left hemisphere of my brain not functioning. However, I'm very good with my left side, am working on improving my right and, with all due respect, I'm sure you recall that I've spent a few weeks in this clinic myself, and I know that the nurses do a good deal of the work, anyway."

Christian looked at Adah thoughtfully and considered. He liked her attitude, and she seemed to be quite aware of her abilities and limitations. Plus, she was right, the nurses would be there to help, and she could always page him or one of the other medical staff if an emergency arose.

"I'd need you to learn the basics of first aid and CPR immediately," Christian said. "The clinic is usually pretty quiet, but if there's a troll invasion or an attack from jello shot dragons, I don't want you trying to handle it yourself. You would call me or one of the other doctors to come in."

The mention of trolls and dragons caused a quirk of Adah's eyebrow, but she nodded. "Of course." She already knew the basics of first aid and CPR anyway; there was simply a few...technical aspects that might be difficult to transfer from paper to actuality. But she'd have to learn how to do that stuff all anyway, force herself to do it, if she was ever going to really become a doctor.

True, she was in it for the viruses. But there were necessary other considerations that she'd have to deal with.

Christian was in it for the money and the women, so he wasn't one to throw stones. "When are you available?" Christian asked. "We have openings Sunday night, Monday morning, Thursday morning, and Saturday morning."

[Sorry for the long lag, I was very unconscious.]

There was a brief moment of consideration. "Would it be possible to take two? The more I work, the better, and I can definitely make two..."

Christian nodded. "You can take two shifts," he said. "But you'll be on probation for the first two weeks while I see how you handle things. If everything goes okay, you'll be officially hired."

[Two's fine! :) Also, I need to develop the ability to type and RP in my sleep.]

Adah gave an understanding bob of her head. "Saturday morning, Sunday night." And tried not to suck in too deep a breath in a sort of excited anticipation.

"Can you start this weekend?" Christian said, jotting down a few notes on his pad.

Again, Adah gave another bob of her head, glad that it was a question that didn't necessarily require her to talk anymore than she already had. Really, though, for the chance to put something like this on her transcript, she'd recite the whole damn Declaration of Independence if he wanted.

Well. If she knew the Declaration of Independence. She could recite the entirety of the book of Deuteronomy, but somehow, she didn't think he'd be interested.

"All right," Christian said. "We'll see you first thing Saturday morning then. I'll let the nurses know to expect you. One of them can show you around so you know where we keep everything. I'll try to drop by and see how you're doing." The likelihood of this depended on if he hooked up with a hot woman Friday night, however.

Stan had wrapped up the ~~Artemis Fowl~~ Diana Bird series and was thumbing through his notes.

Frakking flowers. Now begins my descent into hell.

Time to get out the bingo cards? Or just the booze at this point?

Just booze for now. Bingo won't come 'til the first week in February.

Margaritas today? Martinis tomorrow?
