FTEC - Monday Day Shift 8/27

Heading into the clinic that morning, Wilson realized he was going to have to talk to Christain about giving up the Monday shift now that school was starting up.

Talking quietly with the on duty nurse, he was a bit surprised to learn that Anakin had been discharged the day before and made a mental note to maybe check in on him during office hours or something later.

For now, he took his latte and headed into the exam rooms to help the nurse clean and restock.

With classes beginning the next week, Aziraphale realized that this would be Wilson's last Monday shift. And that, he felt, required some kind of observation.

So he carried the usual thermos of tea and package of gingersnaps, but there was also a bouquet of flowers (camellias, forget-me-not, forsythia, sweet pea) in one hand, as he walked through the door of the clinic.

The nurse, who was checking on the front desk now and again, called back to Wilson and the young doctor came quickly out from the back where he'd been stocking supplies.

"Hey there, love. Aww, they're beautiful!" He exclaimed as he caught sight of the flowers.

"Well, I thought the occasion might warrant some flowers. And...I haven't done this lately. So consider this also my apology for not bringing you flowers more often."

Aziraphale smiled, a little sheepishly, as he held out the bouquet. "And just so you don't think I've turned completely into a sentimental fool, I've also brought your morning tea."

Chuckling, Wilson took the flowers and leaned over to kiss the angel.

"I already know you're a sentimental fool but I love you anyway."

Winking, Wilson carried the flowers over to where he could get them tucked safely into a vase.

"What are you up to today?"

"I'm not...entirely certain," Aziraphale replied, conjuring a teacup and pouring out some of Wilson's tea for him. "I've been terribly neglectful of the ducks, so I thought perhaps I might spend a bit of time out in the park. I think..."

He gave a little shrug. "With all the impending departures, I thought something familiar would be comforting. And I have been neglecting the creatures. They probably won't even remember me."

Taking the tea cup and sipping on the comforting brew, Wilson smiled and shook his head.

"Take plenty of snacks and they'll forgive you, I don't doubt," he said reassuringly. "Besides, it's a beautiful day and I think enjoying it in the park sounds perfect."

"I had rather a suspicion you'd say that," Aziraphale chuckled. "So I decided to preempt you and take your advice before you even gave it."

He held up a small paper sack. "Anyway, I've been letting Lucifer get away with thinking he'd staked his claim to that bench for too long," the angel added with a warm smile.

Rolling his eyes, good naturedly, Wilson made a shooing motion with his hand.

"You angels and your territorial streaks," he began. "What amuses me at the end, however, is if I were to go and set up two benches, you'd both probably frown at me and accuse me of ruining your fun."

"Two benches, my dear," Aziraphale laughed. "Don't be silly. I'm quite happy to share mine."

He gave Wilson a wink, and stole a quick kiss before giving in to the shooing gesture and heading for the door. "I'll see you at supper, love. And I hope you have a nice, quiet day."

A neatly dressed blond man bypassed the front desk entirely, calmly and quietly making his way back to find one Dr. James Wilson.

It had been past time he had come to visit him here.

With how he moved, perhaps now Wilson would try to get him a larger bell.

Maybe two small bells?

Wilson was currently hunkered down on his heels, busilly restocking a drawer with gauze. He had pulled a small CD player into the room and had it playing, fairly loudly, so even with two bells he probably wouldn't have heard Lucifer regardless.

It would be interesting to see how Lucifer might avoid making sound with those, without resorting to any of his abilities.

Because he would take it as a challenge.

Leaning against a bed, Lucifer looked around the room. He did not normally come to places of healing. It was.... interesting. So many little things humans had designed to prolong their own lives.

It was a mortal thing, that pesky addiction to breathing.

Wilson would totally have expected Lucifer to challenge himself in such a way, were he to try to bell him twice but the truth was, it made the mortal discreetly happy each time he saw the small silver bell around the Advesary's neck. He wouldn't push his luck going for two.

For the moment Wilson continued his work, his mind probably a content little mental buzz of professional commentary as he kept an internal checklist of everything that needed to go in each exam room. Multi-tasking at it's finest, which tended to distract him just a bit so that when he did turn around and straighten up, Lucifer's apperance startled him.

"Eep!" He gave a small yelp, jumping back and then taking a quick breath. "Lucifer!"

Smiling, Wilson walked over towards the bed and the lounging figure.

"What brings you by?"

And Lucifer did lounge so very well, didn't he?

He smiled faintly, looking around the room still. "I have not seen you at work here before."

That, surprised Wilson a little as he didn't entirely figure that Lucifer would be overly concerned with, shall we say the mechanics of the human race.

After all, the angel worked on a much higher level.

Still, he wasn't going to question the visit and instead his smile grew wider and warmer as he looked around the exam room.

"Well, this is it," he said as he moved to lean against the bed next to the Advesary. "Actually, I set this all up back in the day. It's sort of heartening to see it still going strong."

Well, Wilson had visited him at work plenty of times. Returning the favour shouldn't be too terribly shocking.

"Did you?"

Crossing his arms, Wilson looked around the clinic and smiled, perhaps a bit wistfully, to himself.

"I did. A couple of years ago (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/502774.html). When I first came to Fandom, I worked with House at the school's dedicated clinic but slowly realized that people in town needed access to medical care as well. Also, it worked out well since things between House and I were ... strained, after we broke up so it was better not to strain the work environment too much."

Shaking his head a bit at memories of that utter debacle, Wilson wrinkled his nose and then looked back around the room with an expression of subdued pride.

"So, I worked with the mayor at the time and set this place up. Lived upstairs for a couple of months, before Aziraphale was called away and I went with him."

Lucifer hummed thoughtfully, pushing away from the bed and walking around to investigate everything with an odd sort of curiosity.

"So this is yours then?"

A quiet look came over Wilson's face as he gave the room one last once over and then looked down at his shoes.

"Not anymore. I created it, set it up but when we were called away I handed it over to people who could be here, running it and there have been changes made. It's now headed up by Dr. Christian Troy and he answers more directly back to Town Hall than I originally did."

"You created it," Lucifer replied, not even glancing back at him. "It will always be yours, regardless of those changes."

Put that way ...

Wilson tilted his head, watching Lucifer thoughtfully and then nodding in agreement with what his lover was saying.

"Yes, by that definition, you're right. Perhaps the distinction I should have made is that I no longer exert my will upon it. I follow the direction of others."

Finally glancing back at Wilson, Lucifer smirked. "A very important distinction indeed."

Smiling, Wilson simply arched an eyebrow and watched Lucifer poke about. He didn't exactly expect a pat on the head and an 'attaboy' from the angel nor was it necessary.

There was a definite sense of pride, in the clinic, coming across the bond.

Good, because he wouldn't receive a pat on the head.

Eyes closed and head tilted at that feeling of pride, Lucifer's smirk increased. He rather enjoyed that.

"Well, will I be given a tour or shall I just find my own way around here," He asked teasingly.

Wilson could have his prideful moments.

Laughing softly, pleasure taken from the teasing, the mortal pushed away from the end of the bed and walked towards the Lightbringer.

"Certainly," he said. "Unfortunately, I can't show you the loft upstairs as the current occupant might object but as for the rest of it ..."

Leading Lucifer out of the exam room Wilson headed towards the back, pointing out the other rooms, most fitted out much like the one they had left with a couple exceptions for equipment that had been added on when he'd left. There was a place for storage of course and Wilson pointed out the spot where the stairs to the upper level came out and then back up to the front.

As he led the tour, he talked more and more about the clinic going into detail about how he'd set certain things up from putting systems in place to keep the clinic up and running in emergency situations to finer details like traffic flow through the different rooms and hallway.

It was a complete tour from back to front eventually leading them back to the exam room where Lucifer had found him.

"And now we're back. That's pretty much the whole of it. As I said, a lot of procedures have evolved and changed since I left, since it was really only me back then and now we have a larger staff and cover not only the town inhabitants but also the students if necessary."

Settling back against the bed, Wilson smiled.

"I wish I could show you upstairs, it was a really nice living area ... once Raphale helped me fill in the windows and clean it up. The first night I stayed up there I about froze my ass off."
