He sighed. "That's a question that's been around longer than words, possibly. Has the relationship been spiraling down? Is this something that both of you are aware of?"

He paused. "Is this actual or hypothetical?"

"Actual." Billy said after a moment. "The relationship...to me it's...we've barely run into each other for like a month, and I realized after I told you about offering to stay and help fight my dad...that when I did it...it never occured to me to think about her."

"So you think that because your priorities are geared so that duty comes before personal issues, that you should end it?"

"It's not just that." Billy said. "It's just that, it made me realize that, maybe the reason we've managed to avoid each other, even when we were staying in the same cabin, was that the...feelings had changed. Mine have, I think."

"I don't think I was ever in love with her." Billy said. "But, I don't feel, anything beyond friendship now. Like, whatever there was, ran it's course? Does that make any sense?"

"It does," Stanley nodded. "Sometimes things are sort of a phase, or a cyclical pattern. I think the best plan would be to explain your feelings as neutrally as possible. There's no good way to proceed... just bad and less bad."

"I agree that it's not a flattering choice of wording, and something like 'infatuation' may sound better, but the result is the same. Either your feelings have changed from normal to something else or either your feelings have returned to normal; the end result is.. that you feel differently than you did."

"I would say the guilt is a good sign. You're aware that you may be hurting the other person and it bothers you because you care.I hope."

Ronan came into the clinic for his tour of the facilities, just as Dr. Troy had said to.

"Hey, kid," Christian said. "Let me give you the quick tour. We've got several exam rooms. Usually there are about four, but for some reason we seem to find more when we need them. Don't ask, just nod and accept it."


[I am so so sorry I didn't ping back to this earlier. Work got a little frantic from noon to three, then I was in transit to Minnesota, and mother nature conspired against me to make that trip last longer than it should have!]

Ronan smiled. "No worries there. It's Fandom, I expect it."

"Each room is kept stocked with the basics," Christian went on as he showed Ronan the four (visible) exam rooms. "But I imagine you won't need that much with what you can do."

Ronan nodded. "Yeah, that's true," he said. "It's good to know that they're there, though." He considered. "What exactly are my responsibilities? Other than caring for patients that come in. Am I responsible for any paperwork? Keeping anything stocked?"

"The only paperwork you need to keep is who came in, what condition they were in, and what you did to treat them," Christian said. "And if possible what happened to them. A lot of the kids are pretty tight-lipped when it comes to that, though. As for stocking, just leave a note if you notice we're running low on something. I usually order supplies on Saturdays."

"All right, then." Ronan looked around the clinic area. "I suppose that's all pretty simple, then."

"It's usually pretty quiet," Christian said. "You can do your homework, surf the web, whatever. If there's a troll invasion or a diseased vampire, it can get pretty messy, though."
